I know it's a big thing when someone says the big three words to their special other in a relationship, I'm just trying to figure out when and how you all think it's right.

should you wait a while, or blurt it out. If so how long into a relationship
Before, after or...during first time "together",

Tell me your experiences and what you thought of it.

Say it when you're sure you feel it.
    Obviously.

I appreciate that telling someone you love them for the first time is pretty daunting (to say the least) and it takes serious guts to lay your heart on the line like that.

But unfortunately, there is no exact science or precise formula behind it. It is just one of those times in life when you have to follow your heart rather than your head - Apologies if that sounds a little corny, but its true!

As AnFile said, when the time is right you'll feel it. Simples. Hope everything works out for you OP.

I am temped to say "Say it when you feel it" but I know and agree it was the most daunting part of a relationship for me. I wanted to tell my o/h about a week into our relationship. I dont think i told her for 6 months or so. She actually asked my why she always has to be the one that says it and I told her that she just gets there before me.

I think my line is still a classic. "Dont worry honey if i love you, worry that i might hate you" needless to say there was no kiss goodnight that night but we look back at these occassions with fondness.

I once heard a commedian say why does "I love you" have to get in the way of a good conversation. He says - There we are discussing CSI and who murdered who and why and she says "I love you" Now wtf does that have to do with CSI? Get with the plot honey because I have not the time to explain later....

I would say send her flowers or bring her a bunch which works out cheaper. Write something nice on the card like. "If i could only speak a few words a day I would use them up by saying I love you" That way your kinda not scareing her and giveing a romantic aspect.

One can work up to it gradually by throwing in a "i'm mad about you Maryann" or whatever or I'm very fond of you type thing and see how its taken and depending on the reception go for it shortly after..

This bit of the charter reads "It is not a forum for guys to ask questions about how their partners minds work (we can’t figure our own out at the best of times, how the heck can we explain your nearest and dearest’s??) or what to get them for the Christmas/birthday/Valentines. Any threads like these will either be moved or closed at the Moderator’s discretion." Closed.

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.
