So for the last couple of hours I've been listening to music, but at the same time I've been going through my iTunes adding album artwork to whatever is missing, as well as arranging the track listings to albums that aren't in order (how fúcking annoying is that!?).

I tend to do this once every month or two, I think it's a sickness. Couldn't imagine having OCD!

    Aren't Saturday nights awesome?

    That's what I do.

**** it I have to have everything organised

I run defrags on the computer I use the most in a gaming cafe ffs

Also I sometimes make my own artwork if I'm feeling creative :P

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 19,969 ✭✭✭✭mikemac

    No shame MagicMarker

I do that too in itunes, all my albums must have artwork.
Now for podcasts the artwork doesn't always update on the recently downloaded episodes.
So I simply have to copy across the artwork before I talk the ipod and leave for the bus to work. That's a few times a week!

    I thought I was alone :(

I have a media player with all my films on it, maybe a 1000. I have to have them categorised by genre and each film title has to have a capitalised first letter and the year in brackets after.

I can't stand any software that creates a media library. I just want you to play my music, don't need you to organize it all. That's what folders and subfolders are for.

No (unless a level of it is required - e.g. personal hygiene) - in fact I'm so ridiculously laidback about certain things that I wonder whether I have reverse OCD...

MagicMarker, maybe change the thread title to "Are you neurotic?" if you want serious answers, seeing as this is AH n' all... :pac:

I find it hard to go into threads on messageboards that are longer than 3 pages, 'cause i'll have to read down through all the previous posts in case i've missed something SO IMPORTANT... think that counts...

    Defo Anal OCD territory :pac:

There's a program that helps with library organisation : TuneUp or something(don't have it myself)

Something satisfting putting the work in yourself though and seeing a complete, organised list there.

I do this too. I've deleted whole albums cos I don't have the artwork/correct tracklisting.

On a bit of a tangent, but the OP made me think of this Viz Top Tip that I read earlier on... I'll share it with you all as it made me laugh so much I just want to share it and I don't want to start a thread and have it moved to TCN:
DON'T waste money on expensive iPods. Simply think of your favourite tune
    and hum it.
If you want to "switch tracks", simply think of another song you like and
    hum that instead.
    I laughed anyway...

Pretty much everyone I know is having a sucky Saturday night for some reason.

I hate when people create creases in the spines of books. It's not necessary if you know how to read properly.

MediaMonkey (free download) will show you what tracks are tagged with no album art etc. Yes, and I know this because I have to have them all tagged too. Also misstagged genres drive me mad also. Yet my room is in a heap. At least I have my priorities straight.

Genres have no place in music.

I just go to play.com, search for the album and that will give me the correct track listing. :)

Google image search for album covers.

Gary Barlow has no place on my mp3 player. My head would explode at the thought of no tagging.

Thats silly, when it gets to more than two pages I just read the 'thanked' posts, save me tonnes of browse time.

Pshh iTunes! Before your iTunes and CDs there was tapes. I had (still have actually) hundreds of them. Albums, mix tapes, entire shows from the radio. Anyway my point is whenever I listened to a tape, I always had to rewind it to the start of side A when I was done regardless of how many songs I listened to. It then went back in its box with side A facing out when you opened it.

How do you manage to let this chaos happen in the first place?

If you set up your ripping program correctly (I use EAC, works great), then everything will be done automatically for you. If you purchase your tracks from Amazon, 7digital or itunes then it is already tagged. If you are getting them through other dodgy means, then you can't really complain but there is good software out there like the godfather that will help.

I do exactly the same thing. I also have to make sure both id3 version 1 and version 2 tags match and follow a specific pattern. But apart from the anal double-tagging I'm fairly disorganised, scatty even.

Big time and I find it oddly satisfying, very satisfying
I have all of my comic books in bags with boards, arranged in sections in chronological order and all my graphic novels arranged in sections ie: all the Batman ones together, Superman together etc.
I have all my dvds organised too, comic book movies - sub divided into DC, Marvel and then others such as Dark Horse, then divided into animated, comedy, tv shows and action.

    I don't know why it's so satisfying!

I refuse to use genres in my track listing - partly because the concept is so nebulous most mostly because I despise the word, especially the plural.
