Attn: Everyone not currently under 8 foot of water.

I really like when it rains, the air smells fresh and the sound of rain drops is quite soothing. Properly attired a walk in the rain can be very relaxing.

I feel rain is a bit of an equalizer too, everyone is usually wearing a raincoat, carrying an umbrella or very very wet. I'm not sure why I feel this, but I think rain seems bring everyone down to the same level; probably because everyone is trying to avoid it.

As a bonus you can use your umbrella to block the faces of the ugly people which have become endemic on our streets, or beat a scumbag upside the face for no particular reason.

Do you like the rain too?

Rain is good, the crappy overcast sky that goes with it... not so much.
Still, no rain appreciation thread would be complete without this:

I've said it for years, I LOVE the rain!.

I live beside a beach, and believe me the most fantastic time of year to take long beach walks is winter, in a gale and lashing rain. I find it really earthy and refreshing, plus it usually mean's I've the beach more or less to myself and the mutts, so they can run free & to their little hearts content.

That's hardly as equalising as everybody just being dry:confused:

I love the rain myself, especially if you're snuggled up in bed listening to it

I love the rain when it lashes down relentlessly, it allows me to feel all smug and self righteous and dream up new ways to stop people from enjoying technological advances.

I've always loved rain. When I was younger I'd wrap up in a warm coat, grab my brolly and a good book and go sit under a big old oak tree near my house. The more rain the better. I'd be all dry and comfy with the rain coming down around me and I'd get lost in my book with the comfort of knowing nobody would be bothering me.

meh, hate the rain... but you can't beat being in the pub on a high stool beside an open fire having a few beers while the rain is lashing against the window.

No problem with rain myself, prefer snow though.

I do hate umbrellas though. Get a fecking coat with a hood and stop poking me in the eye. :(

I like the sound of rain drops pelting off the roof when I'm in bed, other than that i don't like the rain.

I love walking with my dogs when the rain is lashing down really hard, I'm not too keen when it's windy and raining though.

My dad use to say there is nothing like a good shower of rain to wash the scum from the streets. i did not get the true meaning of this till i was 17.

I like the rain but am always reminded of the 3 holes in my roof that have occured

I really hate the rain, so much, it's probably the main reason i've spent most of my 20s abroad, and the recent weather is driving me nuts. I got a motorbike recently and can't even take it out today because it looks like the f*cking apocolypse outside. Seriously this must be the worst climate on the planet.

    You've brought me back years!.

When I was growing up in Ballymun there was a huge natural forest beside us. I used to do the same, to this day I love the sound of rain on the leafs!.

In the mornings going to work, I love for it to be torrential rain so it makes the money on the car seem worth it. Likewise when I'm in the house and don't have have to go anywhere.. Just leave the window open a bit to hear it and I'm happy out.

Generally speaking the worse the weather the more i like it. Right now the rain and wind are hammering the windows of my place and i'm just about to put some shoes on and go for a stroll in it.

    Deadly.

I must admit, it is quite a pleasure having a drunken fag , in the lashing rain, with not much clothes on, and no shelter. They should put that in the olympics

I used to live in a city on the continent - the rain was great - it cleared the pollution for a couple of days and got rid of the dust for a while.

+ a zillion... if people here are referring to actually being out in it. I do quite like the sound of heavy rain while indoors and cosy.

I don't mind it when i'm inside looking out but when i'm outside and every second car thinks it's hilarious to splash me and i've to walk around for the day drenched i have a problem with it!

Rain makes everything more dramatic hence why every scene of importance in nearly every romantic/horror/action movie occurs when it's bucketing down!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,103 ✭✭✭misslt

    I hate hate hate it.

I get soaked to the skin and have to sit around all day in wet clothes. Why would anyone enjoy that?!!!

That said, I love lying in bed when it's lashing out and listening to it.

Nothing worse than getting drenched in it on your way to school/work and being stuck in soggy clothes all day :(

i remember doing a poem in school years ago,
it was about some auld fella who's wishing that he will be lying in his bed, on a stormy night when he passes away, think he didn't want to hear death coming

Love the wind and rain, always head out for a walk when its raining. I like stormy weather too when you can really feel the atmosphere around you.
Give me wind and rain over a hot overcast weather any day.

I prefer the rain and the cold to oppressive heat, at least with the rain and cold you can wrap up and get yourself comfortable. in the heat there's only so much clothes you can take off

I love the rain when your inside. I love that feeling when the rain wakes you up early in the morning and your warm in bed. Then when ya get up to go to college/work and its lashing!

Its a bit weird but I love bad weather(heavy snow/rain) that makes roads and shops clothes. It brings people together and makes you forget even for a little bit that theres more than just work!

I absolutely love the rain. I purposely get wrapped up in waterproofs and go walking in the rain when it's heavy like today. It's one of the things that's guaranteed to make me feel happy. :)
