I'm gobsmacked, I used to work in Dublin Street and I remember the bad flooding down there last year; it looks far worse this time round. How are people going to face it again?

Hasn't been too bad around me in Moycullen, Galway but some of the neighbours' laneways are very low-lying & are still underwater (thankfully the levels have receded a lot today) - this particular household seems to have come up with a novel short-term solution..!

Ireland is under a lot of water.
It's becoming at least a yearly event here in Clonmel.

This might actually be even worse than it looks!...

You may have heard, Audi were to hold their big "Pure Drive" event at The Kingsley Hotel in Cork this weekend (Audi website). Test drive the "most impressive Audi range ever assembled"... check out this guys photos of the event in Dublin last weekend.

"The Pure Drive Experience programme is designed to demonstrate the latest in Audi technology and the cars involved include the new A5 Sportback, the new 5-cylinder turbo TT RS, the Q5 and the S4."

You can see a few nice new Audis were spared above ground but there are mixed rumours tat some of the big guns were parked in the "shelter" of the underground carpark!!! Possible including the R8! Other reports say the big cars hadn't been offloaded from the truck yet, but why let that get in the way of a good story!

Tourist Office, Carrick on Shannon, it's right beside the river under the bridge over the Shannon

    4122112971_7b4ae515d8_b.jpg

Not a great quality photo, but a view from the bridge over the Shannon, again the tourist office in the foreground, the boats are moored at the jetty. The rest of it is normally a car park!

    4122872516_28865e1e69_b.jpg

Farmland in Boyle, Co. Roscommon, ESB pole is on the far side of the field which is where the original river bank ended.

    4122860356_81830c3eba_b.jpg

Boyle Canal, the steps down to the boats (at least 8-10 steps) completely submerged. Lots of people spent today trying to secure the boats so they wouldn't end up on the pier.

    4122058267_1b8bdb8528_b.jpg

Lough Key Forest Park, Boyle. The ringbuoy is where the path is along the lake edge. The lake has risen 3-4 ft and the benches are normally about 15 from the water.

And it's not over yet unfortunately. The water has subsided somewhat in Carrick today but if it's storming tonight (strong winds out there at the moment) it's probably rise again. 40 minute delays going into the town today.

yeah it's still very unsettled - wind blowing here at the mo and raining on and off - more for next week too by the looks of things
    :(

A couple more from Trim today. We escaped the worst of it - nothing near as bad as the West & South.

The River Boyne. That fishing sign is well up on the bank.

Yeah, carrick was hit pretty bad, didn't get much mention in the news, more rain and the town will have to be closed as the remaining access roads are beginning to flood.
