    Hi,

I thought this might be a good place to ask for some advice on a christening present for my neice who is 12 months old.

I am Godmother so I want to get something nice (price range: 50-100 euros) that she will keep. I'm not particularly religious and I also want to avoid the "typical" presents, bible, photo frame, silver keepsakes etc.

At the moment I'm leaning towards a personalised canvas wall print or a charm bracelet, but am curious to know others thoughts on the subject...

    Thanks!!

Charm braclet sounds nice, with an engraving.

also, kids love toys. I don't think she'd much appreciate a keepsake at the moment, get her a small toy too [:

I know this is a wee bit off topic but..
anyone got any suggestions on what I can get my almost three year old housemate's daughter? She loves wooden and vintage toys. Just not sure what to get her??

Why not see if you could book a photographer for her christening? I'd say you could get something in around 100 euros.

Pictures of those little hands holding her godmother's fingers, that sort of thing. I'm biased of course but I think professional baby photos are definitely something that she will treasure when she's older.

that's a great idea!! unfortunately they've just had some professional photos done not that long ago. I'll keep that in mind if I'm lucky enough to be a godmother again some day!

I buy that days newspaper every time a child is born in the family. Then i frame it for the christening. I usually silver frame it as its a christening. Its not the only present but it gets a good reaction. The best thing about the frame is it preserves the paper so in 20 years the child can read about the day s/he was born.

I would also ad that while you yourself are not religious the child is being christened in a religious way. Is this about buying a present that represents you or the child. I ask because I think that the world has gone slightly mad with the I am not religious thing and there is no pun towards you intended

Just buy them something simple or religious. Guaranteed they wont bat an eyelid at your faith. It is their day afterall. God mother is a (Christianity / Ecclesiastical Terms) a female godparent so you cannot avoid the religious aspect. Additionally you give an oath in the church which if you do not observe why are you taking that oat....Food for though imo!

First pair of shoes is the duty of the godmother and if you did get a charm bracelet you coulld get a shoe charm.
