Has anyone successfully downloaded software using Microsoft Dreamspark free software service?

I'm trying to help someone download Server 2008. We went to www.micromail.ie/dreamspark and registered (and verified) using a MyCIT account. We then went to www.dreamspark.com a selected the software we needed, using country, and college but it also looks for a verification code which I cannot find. Where do you get this?

Open source or open standards are the way to go to make everyones lives easier. Don't get me started on Flash!!!!

Try telling that to admin. Can you see them using Linux instead of Windows for example...hmmmm...

And no, they wouldn't get used to it.

i'd say it has more to do with not getting 'kick backs' from microsoft and old world arguments about open source not working, not catching on and the rest that are no longer valid

Getting people used to your software is a big thing. thats why google provides free email to the school, they want everyone using their ****ty web based javascript "cloud" stuff in the hope that they will use an ad-supported version for their personal stuff or at least gain wider acceptance

No no, a lot of the staff here would not get used to Linux. No way. Not ever.

rly? you could train a monkey to use the past few versions of ubuntu.

its so easy to use now that all the hardcore linux users are moving onto obscure window managers and distros like Gentoo and the like because the other ones are tailored for what they would describe as 'noobs'. you know, behaving like Windows, using sudo and the like

For anyone in the computing dept(which is the majority of people on this forum i think) you can also get access to MSDN Academic Alliance. They have about 40 different pieces of software on there including Windows 7. I download Windows 7 x64 Professional and Micrsoft Visio there on the weekend all for free!

Suppafly, how do you get the login for the MSDN Academic Alliance. Im at the point now where i have completely given up asking the Admin out in CIT for information of any kind.
No point in trying Jim either, never can get on to him :p

for those people who want to download window 7 from there, check your computer detail and see is it meet the min requrement for it...as its size is about 2-3 gb.
