Ladies & Mens reactions

Do you ladies feel there is a major difference to how men and women react to a simple situation. Something last night was making me think.
Myself and my amazingly perfect and beautiful lady are in our new apartment a couple of weeks and about 5am this morning she was awake because of a dripping noise from the rain on the balcony. She couldn't ignore it so got annoyed and stormed to the spare room:mad:, which is right along the balcony too so a few mins later she storms back in, her mood worsening:mad::mad:.

Now I couldn't ignore the drip cos ya know once you hear it you can't unhear it, so I got up, put on my slippers and bath robe, braved the cold and wet for a few mins, found the drip and put a rag under it to stop the noise. Went back to bed and slept as much as I could til the alarm annoyingly as always goes off.

So do you think that you ladies, Please don't take offence, are perhaps less rational in how you handle these simple, slightly stressful situations that life throws at you? Maybe that's why you keep us men folk around, or do you think this is just a persons individual reaction and not at all to do with gender.

I understand these sweeping generalisations don't apply to everyone, but of course I mean just in general.

    that's just different peoples reactions.

I would have gotten pissed at the noise but fixed it.

This has nothing to do wiht gender TBH, all to do with the person!

  • I think that's a stereotype. I would try to fix the problem rather than just moan about it, and I've known many guys who wouldn't bother fixing stuff and just put up with it. I don't think it's a gender thing.

While there would be exceptions, I think one of the differences between genders is that women like to discuss a problem(get it off their chests) or seek empathy regarding it, men just want to fix the problem.

There are exception's and I don't intend to generalize in what I say above but it is an observation I have made.

I don't go for generalisations much myself, but in general I think men are less rational when handling a simple, slightly stressful traffic jam. Maybe that's why they keep women folk around. And I find it's less stressful for me if I just point out he's acting like a typical man, and that men in general are like this. God the laughs we have. Makes for a very healthy relationship, I find.

But then on the other hand maybe it's just the man I'm with and nothing to do with gender. It's a toughie.

I don't know how applicable it is to people in general but the above scenario would be very typical in our house.

The thread is unlikely to provide any insight since nobody is very likely to admit inclinations towards irrational behavior in simple situations like this...

In my experience, women do tend to react more emotionally than men, but that doesn't speak for all women in all situations. And reacting emotionally/irrationally isn't exclusive to women. Men are capable of it as well. In fact, the most irrational person I've ever met was a man. Likewise, my mother is one of the most rational people I've ever met - her mantra was, "If something's wrong, you don't complain about it, you fix it, and if you can't fix it, you learn to deal with it."

    I'd have just ignored it.
