According to Dave Meltzer Shane McMahon reportedly had a meeting at the UFC Offices recently. No information regarding the meeting was disclosed. When asked about the meeting, Dana White had no comments.

Shane McMahon announced his resignation from World Wrestling Entertainment a little over a month ago, which goes into effect in January 2010.

For those that don't know, he is the son of Vince McMahon, owner of the WWE and recently announced that effective of January 1st next year, he has resigned from WWE.

He is Executive Vice President of WWE Global Media, overseeing International Television Distribution, Live Event bookings, Digital Media, Consumer products, and Publishing.

If anyone can help UFC get into markets they're not currently in, it's Shane McMahon.

At least we never have to see him wrestle again. Seeing him being competitive in the ring was the moment I knew wrestling was fake.

he could definitely bring considerable experience on the marketing side to help ufc push into south america and beyond.

interesting to see if dana would be worried about being associated with "that wrasslin guy"

Also the same guy who thought he could legit take Ken Shamrock in a fight ten years ago and someone who wanted his Dad Vince to buy PRIDE in the worst way.

Im pretty sure that was in make believe fantasy world that is wwe and not in the real world, otherwise he could have fought him if that was the case.

Rush Boxing club and Rush Martial Arts head coach.

Shane's matches were some of the greatest in WWE history, remember in King of the Ring 1999 (or 2000 not sure) when he fought Kurt and got suplexed through the plate glass? Or when he fought his old man at Wrestlemania and went coast to coast to drop kick a trash can? The guy is mental and I loved seeing his name on PPV events.

Wrestling is BETTER when you know its fake. There is a "My dad is Santa Claus?" moment when you realise it as a child, but it shouldn't colour your adult perceptions.

I heard Dana say in an interview years ago that he would love to pick Vince McMahon's brains for an hour, Vince is very well respected as a master promoter, and Shane O'MacDaddy'sNameIsVince is cut from the same cloth. I'd say they would be delighted to have him on board.

That was pretty class alright. :D

Indeed he is. I'd imagine promoters from any sport could learn a lot from him.

King of the Ring 2001 that was a great match, very athletically demanding too.

Yeah he always pulls out the stops in his matches, such as the few PPV matches he had with Kane in 2003 (Unforgiven and Survivor Series) Great stuff.

I can see him bringing a lot to the UFC.

    I'll second this.

From a business point of view, you'd have to think that Shane O'Mac could bring a lot to the table, though he also has the potential to do serious damage to the UFC's image among casual viewers if too much is made of his wrestling connections.
I'd still be optimistic that it would be more positive than negative though. Let's see how it plays out.

Anyone who criticises Shane's wrestling ability hasn't a clue! The guy was a multi-millionaire and had no onus to take bumps in pro-wrestling. But he still went out there and took some of the hardest bumps ever in pro-wrestling.. Knocked off the titantron by Steve Blackman, those diving elbows from the top turnbuckle to the outside announcer tables, and then the jump from one side of the ring to another... Crushing!!!

Shane-o was the man! Back when wrestling was cool.

If he works with UFC, it can only be a positive thing.

i agree he was great in it, back when wwf/wwe was great.
when would you ever be able to throw your boss through a glass window.
he would be good for ufc because hes been in the business pretty much since he was born and wwe is a multimillion $ company which also has had the monopoly for about 11 years

IIRC he bounced off the glass :D before actually being put through it successfully. That must have hurt.

As noted before, Shane McMahon recently met with UFC officials in Las Vegas for an exploratory meeting. As far as we know, nothing was signed and nothing happened that would result in negotiations being broken off. Within WWE, both on the creative and talent sides, it's believed that Shane will end up with UFC eventually. It's possible that Shane may do something with UFC like he did with WWE as the President of Global Media and help UFC expand internationally.

A good friend of Shane's and former President of WWE Canada, Carl DeMarco, also met with UFC officials separately last week. Sources within WWE speculate that Shane and Carl may end up going to UFC as a package.

just coz shane could take a few bumps doesnt mean he was a good wrestler.

    samoa joe
    KENTA Kobiashi

Sorry for the bump is the rumor that Shane and Carl DeMarco are going to head up UFC's Canadian office total bull**** or what?

I personally think the UFC would have everything to gain from having Shane on board. The UFC are trying to break new markets in U.A.E and the like so having a guy who's family have been there and done that can only help.

but the difficult-to-remove-stink might be that of "hey, you know what.... we could make a lot more money if we rigged these fights to lend some more soap opera to the whole thing".
Its bad enough as it is with the smack talk before fights and the curious decisions and weird losses (BJ Penn, you listening to me?? :) )

Thats my only concern.... the devil comes as the angel of light!

It'd we pretty hard to rig MMA without the fighters on board, something that I don't think any top level fighter would be into.

Sherdog response, I guess you dont know the business of MMA. Smack talk sells fights.

Shane wanted WWE to buy UFC, PRIDE and Strikeforce in various occasions but was blocked by Vince McMahon essentially because he couldnt work fights.

Of course with the Fertittas holding gambling licenses they wouldnt throw away their casino business to fix a random fight.

Well Carl DeMarco has pretty much ruled himself out.

    http://mmajunkie.com/news/19227/former-wwe-exec-carl-demarco-absolutely-no-truth-to-rumors-hes-heading-to-the-ufc.mma

Just in case anybody doesn't know he was the WWE's main man in Canada for ages until they decided to close their offices there.

Someone with his links within the Canada would have been quite a coup for the UFC, especially as they are trying to get legalized in Ontario. If they do then they could potentially hold a show at the Skydome/Rogers Center. WWE was able to draw over 60,000 legit at that place a few years back. With the right fight (aka GSP versus Koscheck) UFC could do around the same number and make an absolute packet.
