For the uninformed, furries are people who like to derss up as animals and adopt cetrain traits of both animal and human.

According to BBC, No standard definition exists but generally furries are people who have a fascination with anthropomorphic animals. These are animals that are given human traits, like walking and talking. They can be anything from cartoons characters like Bugs Bunny to computer game personalities like Pokemon. The article on the BBC got me thinking, is there a furry scene in Ireland? Do any posters n boards participate in this activity?

Supposedly she wanted to dress up as a blue whale, and they made her costume by hollowing out an actual blue whale. It was a tight fit.

Not all 'furries' like to dress up.

There are spiritual aspects to it as well, but that is more therianthrope then furries.

If by a scene you mean parties and howls? then no, Ireland is a very small place and people tend to keep to themselves.
Do any posters n boards participate in this activity?

    That would be telling :D

It wasnt a blue whale, but I did hear she dressed up as a sea living mammal. Apparently she ended up losing her bucket :pac:

Googled Irish Furries, found this. By the way, that's not an invitation to sign up to the site and mock them, leave that **** to /b/tards and just don't, ok? I'm just posting that to satisfy any curiosity people might have.

Those crazy furries and their likening themselves to holocaust victims. Honestly, ten minutes on the 'net is enough to hate them.

I have no idea, I'm not into it. My brother goes every year though and he says there are always furries.

Well, I'm sure furries have plenty of interests as well, sometimes Anime even. I'm just taking umbrage at the notion that Anime and furries are somehow linked, and using that as an excuse to post youtube videos.

    Great film, that. ;)

One afflicted with Asperger's Syndrome, a disorder on the autism spectrum.

The disorder causes social and often motor impairments but those who have it are often very intelligent and have particularly strong interests.

    Used mostly among Aspies themselves.

I'm not sure why one would bring aspies into this

Aspie is the nickname for people who have generally self diagnosed themselves as having Asberger's syndrome, which is in the Autism Spectrum. the people who actually have asberger's syndrome usually are annoyed by half of the internet claiming to have it, when in reality they are just socially awkward manchildren.

And here I was hoping Ireland would be able to escape the insanity.

Then again, considering that it's like 10 furries and several hundred /b/tards over here (as shown by last year's Scientology protests) I'd really like to see what sort of shenanigans they would get up to.

hahaha they are doing a good enough job of mocking themselves:
    General Everything

For everything because, seriously, is the activity really going to justify having more then one board?

The R2 DVD has both subtitled and dubbed options. As you might expect, the English dub is absolutely horrendous. It can be picked up fairly cheap, I'd highly recommend it.

    true dat!

They do tend to rub the fact that they are furries into people's faces (not IRL of course) which can be quite irritating. Well I suppose that only really applies to the attention seeking ones - morons.

Seriously, whatever gets you excited...fine. Just don't feel the need to tell me about it. I don't care!

Well this is quite the informative discussion, I have to say I recognised one of the posters on the furry forum from my days in college, hes also a poster here too, but anyway. I wouldn't have thought he was into that.

This furry thing seems all a bit too Louis Thereaux... all far too strange. Different strokes for different folks I guess if thats how you get your kicks...
