favourite perk so far?

anyone got a favourite perk yet?

I adore Commando, it was the first perk I upgraded to Pro.

It doubles the distance you can stab people from (essentially giving you a mini lunge) and if anyone remembers lanparty 2 with my knife fight showdown, they know I love the stabby stabby, I melee much more in this then I did in COD 4, nad have easily been able to rack up 2 or 3 in a row. Especially when combined with Marathon. When you get pro it just gets more awesom. It stops you taking any damage from falling which with the maps designed with a much more emphasize on different levels of height it really gives you to advantage of dropping down into the middle of groups. Sadly because I pretty much always have it on I have yet to complete the fall to your death challange :D Again combined with marathon (when pro) makes it even more awesome as marathon pro speeds up your climbing/hopping speed, giving you an almost parkour speed to your movement around the maps.

I've also got Bling, Scavanger and penetration up to pro aswell. Scavanger can be a lifesaver at times if you are got a streak going and need ammo, but the pro only gives you the option to pick up extra magazines. Penetration is pretty obvious but the Pro gives you more damage to vehicles meaning it is very possible to shoot down a harrier with a Scar or Fal. Bling only gives you the ability to put two attachments on your secondary in pro, which is a shame as I was hoping for 3 attachments on the rifle :(

Overall I like most of the perks and I am very happy that martydom and juggernaught got moved to deathstreaks and juggernaught got nerfed with a time limit.

Im loving the Bling perk at the moment.
Th m4a1 with a silencer and acog scope is absolutely lethal.

Made a loadout for fast play last night and had some great fun playing Sab with it. Marathon with lighter weapons makes you feel like road runner :D

Hardline is pretty good, means I get Predator drone at 4 kills and care package at 3. I got 2 AC130's in Afghan (the most open level) in the last game which meant pure carnage. Bling is very good as well there is nothing like having a red dot sight and the grenade launcher going at the same time.

Quick question from a COD multiplayer noob - are the perks automatic or do you have to enable them somehow?

Bling Perk for me is the best by far

I am using UMP45 plus Rapid Fire and FMJ attachment!:D

You go into create a class (once you unlock it) and can create 5 custom classes, choosing whatever combination of weapons and perks you want - as you level up, more weapons and perks will be unlocked, but its up to you to use them by choosing them for one of your custom classes.

You select them in create a class under perks.

Cheers - so they dont need to be 'activated' then? They just work?

Getting slaughtered at this at the moment but still learning :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 513 ✭✭✭Onearmedbandit

No they are "activated" by selecting them in your create a class screen and are on all the time when you pick that class in MP.

Can't go wrong with Bling / Hardline / Stopping Power Pro / Steady Aim Pro though the latter is ridiculously easy to hip shot and that's just Steady Aim.

Hardline = Quicker to Sentry = Quicker to Pave Low = Quicker to AC :D

Nice one thanks. That Bling sounds like the business. So you could have Silencer & Red dot sight? I like the sound of that!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,435 ✭✭✭wandatowell

Slight of hand mixed with AKIMBO. Bullets flying EVERYWHERE!!!!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 720 ✭✭✭Ravage1616

In theory the scrambler seems like a good perk, but it just alerts people that your near by. I tend to find guys using this perk easily, just set and listen for them!

    True.

I think people are using it wrong though. alot of the time its snipers etc using the perk and it doesnt help them, its just a big alarm bell that someone is nearby.

On the other hand combined with marathon it can be alot more effective when the player using it is always on the move and spends alot of time with shotgun or sub machine gun getting in close to the enemy (which is an accolade in its self). Tends to put them on the backfoot (like you said they all stop and check around the immediate area)

Its Pro mode hints that this is what it is meant for as it stops calymores from going off instantly so you can sprint pass them.

I built a stealth sniper class last night, Bling cold blooded and ninja. With a heatbeat sensor and a silencer on my barret rifle.

My range is greatly diminished. But on a map like derailed or wasteland it can seriously p*ss people off if you keep getting headshots at midrange.

    Silenced SCAR-H
    Sleight of hand
    Stopping power
    Steady aim

    ^^^

all of them = your death:cool:

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 288 ✭✭halolma

    I use

    Sleight of Hand/Pro
    Hardline/Pro
    Steady Aim/Pro

sometimes changing Hardline for Stopping power, depending on your weapon.

still tweaking to see whats the best one...

    I am using the UMPH45 and the MA41( waiting for the M16 :) )

I just had a go of Marathon, Lightweight, and Commando! Dear God I was like a bunny on speed! I completed the Commando Pro in one game of sabotage. out of 36 kills about 25 or so were knife kills. It was the most fun I've had so far in MW II. Everyone should try it out, just run around knifing people, you really have an enormous range.

marathon lightweight and commando are a must if you are playing the new CTF mode and intend to be the flag runner. Gave it a go last night and I had a wonderful time sprinting around the map grabbing the flag and sprinting back to base. Favourite moment was coming around the corner to my flag to find myself behind 3 opposing players and being able to do a combo chain of knife kills on them and score.

Also CTF is a quality gamemode and is alot of fun on some maps (Skidrow in particular because both flags are put at the end of long corridors on one end and open spaces at the other.) And Overtime is hilarious because you only need to touch the flag to win, so expect alot of suicide runs to touch it.

on a side note...what is the pro ability to lightweight?

I've got a few perks in pro now (2 of my classes have nothing but pro perks) but some of them are pain to get a pro version of. Cold Blooded asks you to destroy 40 killstreaks.

Does that mean shooting down the helicopter or killing people with killstreaks?

Try Marathon, Lightweight and Commando with a riot shield. You won't be disappointed. ;3

i really like bling cuz when i have my scar with a holographic sight and a heartbeat monitor im unstoppable. heartbeat monitor is very handy, i got so many kills with it! its also cool havin a silencer and a red dot sight on the m19 with bling pro!:)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,698 ✭✭✭✭BlitzKrieg

watch out as ninja gets more popular the heartbeat sensor will be more of a hinderence then a benefit.

I use Ninja myself, I'm not slighting it at all here... but will it get that popular? It has to compete with Steady Aim, which is almost a must for twitchers who hip-fire a lot, and Last Stand, and we all know how popular that was in 4 (with me too ;)).

in search and destroy its very popular because alot of people use heartbeat sensors in it.

Also in hardcore its a must because there is no radar unless a uav is up so alot of players tend to have heartbeat sensors again.

normal deathmatch its less so used. But as people get comfortable with the maps and the bigger ones give way to camping players, Ninja will appeal to runners more trying to jump campers.

last stand while more versitile then it was in 4 seem's less effective to me as unless you have a handgun as your secondary, you pull out a weedy default pistol when you go down. So you need to forfiet shotgun/launcher in favour of magnum etc if you really want last stand to be worth it.

not sure about machine pistols though...

wtf... I have the SPAS as my secondary... and I'll be relegated to some shitty handgun for last stand... no to that!

Thanks for the info BlitzKrieg, you've provided quality advice a few times now!

yeah quick google confirms, machine pistols dont pop up either. Its only a pistol.

Explains why handguns are not completely useless anyway.

See as how stopping power is a given, I would say 'Scrambler Pro' - nothing better than seeing a claymore, laughing at it then running away before it explodes.

(Scrambler pro delays claymores for anyone who doesn't use it)

I've yet to unlock 'Ninja', 'One Man Army' and a few other perks.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,698 ✭✭✭✭BlitzKrieg

on a side note to last stand pro (that I saw on gamespot)

You can use grenades in pro and kill yourself with semtax denying your opponent the kill.

Could be usefull in teamdeathmatch :D

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 68 ✭✭Ingenuist

Has got to be sit rep pro, the noise out of footsteps becomes so loud that if your crouching around havin a snoop u can pinpoint where anyone is, took forever to get tho but well worth it

unless someone uses ninja pro then you can't hear ain't :)

    Bling is a good one.
Submachine gun with a silencer and faster firing, lethal.

bling has to be up there along with cold blooded

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,698 ✭✭✭✭BlitzKrieg

slight of hand pro is pretty awesome, it almost feels like single player the ease you can zoom in and out with your aim.

I've Pro'd up quite a number of my perks.

so far Scavanger, marathon, bling, slight of hand are all pro in perk 1 (only one man army left to pro up)

in perk 2 Deep impact and Cold blooded are pro. (working on lightfoot (half way through the 30k) and havnt bothered with hardline or danger close yet cause I dont rely on explosives much or aim for long killstreaks)

in perk 3 Ninja and commando are pro. But I havnt bothered with sit rep or scrambler, currently working on steady aim.

Lads what exactly needs to be done to work towards getting the Extended Mags? It states 'Get 40 kills with bullet penetration and FMJ attached'. I would have thought this meant have FMJ as one of your attachments, and have stopping power as a perk? Am I missing something here?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,641 ✭✭✭zero19

FMJ is the same as deep impact in MW 1 in that the rounds pentrate more surfaces, so if you shoot through a wall and kill someone it counts as 1 of the 40 kills required i think

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 510 ✭✭✭gino85

an FMJ is an armour peircing round so i wouldnt think theres stopping power aswell

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 8,305 ✭✭✭DOC09UNAM

marathon pro, lightweight pro and ninja pro is awesome with the p90 and stinger as backup.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,641 ✭✭✭zero19

    What's marthon pro anyway?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,698 ✭✭✭✭BlitzKrieg

allows you to hop over walls etc really quickly.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7 SexyBuilder1888

cold blooded perk is quite good. you dont get detected on uav or predator missiles.

sleight of hand is also quality

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,698 ✭✭✭Risteard

I use Marathon, Lightweight and Commando.

Commando is my favourite. Knifing people is my favourite way of killing them so Commando's pretty good for that.

The others are pretty handy for CTF as well.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,942 ✭✭✭Mac daddy

Commado Pro I like going around with a knife waiting around a corner for someone to run by bang hit spring chase after that stab them :)

what is the perk of commando pro in english?

i havent bothered with it thus far
