Anyone else catch Misfits tonight? Have to say I really enjoyed it. The characters are all brilliantly done, and there were plenty of laughs.

Although one thing I wondered about...
What use is a power that essentially makes people try to rape you!?

Looking forward to next weeks episode.

Just watching it now, its really good. I agree with your spoiler!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,405 ✭✭✭shinny

Just watched it too. Seems like it could be a good show. Parts of it are a bit crude, but if you can get over that it's quite good.

I know, that is a weird one. Maybe when she can control it more it's more about having power over them, be interesting to see how they progress that one!

Very enjoyable show... ultimately Skins with superpowers, but good all the same.
Yeah agree about yer one's power, but I'm sure it'll manifest into something useful as time goes on. Really want to know what the other guys power is though and why he was doing community service in the first place. I'll be watching this anyway. Channel 4/E4 scripted dramas and comedies are usually good - they're a bit like the HBO of Ireland and the UK...

deos anyone have any idea when it'll be repeated because i was looking forward to it but missed it..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,711 ✭✭✭Hrududu

I thought it was a strange little show but enjoyed it all the same. That girl's power is quite disturbing. Especially from the clips they showed at the end for next week.

The Irish guy annoyed me so much though. Why does there always need to be a smart ar$e character in every show.

The thing I liked most was
how they killed the baddie. No super powers, the girl just kicked him to death. And then they realised that they would never be able to explain it away. So them disposing of the body was quite chilling.
Thats the kind of thing that makes it a bit different than the usual super hero fare. So I hope it continues.

Probably a couple of times on E4 during the week, but you could watch it on the 4OD player on the channel 4 website.

No I can't use the player anymore...have to in the UK now. I'll keep a lookout for it on the tv though

No they changed it back - both UK and Ireland can now use it.

    What is the girls power?

    What is the girls power?
When she touches someone they are instantly "in lust" with her, to the point of trying to have sex with her there and then. The example we saw involved a long touch so I'd imagine it will progress that she can use slight touches to control people.

I kind of liked the fact that the Irish guy was such a pain in the arse. He came across as a genuine prick, which was better than the usual "cheeky paddy" roles.

My favourite character is definitely the "Chav". She's brilliant.

    awful so contrived

    Im thinking
their powers are based on what they want most? or what they think about all the time?

Yeah I liked the second episode, but I saw the twist coming with yer one long before it happened - still funny though.

thire powers are based on what they want most? or what they think about all the time?

WOW seems like thats what it is, can't believe I didn't think bou that!
What about ur Irish chaps Mam's boyfriend? He wants to be a dog? And why does the chav one want to read people's minds?

    Thats probally it though!

    Well,
With Jeremy (the Mam's boyfriend) he talked about how he loved his jack russell and missed it a lot. The chav made references to people always judging her and thinking horrible things about her. So I'd say it's not necessarily just things that they want but things that they feel...like the quiet, shy guy feeling invisible and the runner feeling regret over his actions and wishing he could turn back time. Dying to see if the Irish guy has a power!

Loved the bit where he says something along the lines
"If you think my cum face was bad you should see your own!"

What a great show, seen the second ep. tonight then went online to watch the first one, really enjoying the Irish guy his character is such a prick.
The theory about the superpowers seems to be spot on-
I'll add the community centre leader to the list, finally being able to realease all his pent up rage

Channel 4 have the teen/20's genre down to a tee at this stage with this Skins and The Inbetweeners. Does anyone know how long the series is on for? Can't be that many episodes if they're 45 minutes an episode.

I'd say 6-8 episodes. That's what most shows get for the first series on channel 4/e4.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,803 ✭✭✭pappyodaniel

It's a really enjoyable show, I didn't expect anything from the show as I'm 29 and expected it to be your typical teen show like Skins but it's genuinely funny with adult themes and some hillarious lines esp. from the Irish guy Nathan.

Does anyone know anything about him? I hear he's from Portlaoise and was in a few RTE kids shows.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,625 ✭✭✭✭Johner

    Skins is ****e.

This and Inbetweeners is great though. :)

Tonight's episode was another good one and next weeks looks even better. I wonder if Nathan has a power at all? He might not have one. I think they're hinting at a Nathan & Kelly relationship anyway - which will definitely be more interesting then the other 2.

I started watching the first episode last night and couldn't make it through 20 minutes..

.. the acting is absolutely atrocious - the Irish lad especially!

    It's just too distracting!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,894 ✭✭✭Chinafoot

Thought last nights was good. The only one that I think is a bad actor is Curtis.

    Loved Nathan's line when he
threw the brick her car and she asked was he mentally deficient. "If I was mentall deficient I would have missed. Check that out - bullseye!

    Kelly is still my favourite.

    Wonder who
    shygirl is?

    Totally missed that! Thanks :)

Another thing I was curious about was
do the powers disappear? Ruth (the old lady that was young again) lost hers but was that down to the fact that she was elderly and perhaps it was her time to die??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,635 ✭✭✭token56

The acting isn't wonderful, but I'm enjoying it especially since I know the Irish guy fairly well, which made that sex scene in episode 2 a bit more disturbing.

    Edit:
    @pappyodaniel

His name is Robert Sheenan, from Portlaoise alright. He was also in a movie with Rupert Grint and James Nesbitt fairly recently called Cherrybomb. Dont think it had a distributer so I'm not sure where to get it, but its basically a movie adaptation of Skins. He also has some sort of role in an upcoming Nicholas Cage film "Season of the Witch".

    That's gas.

Fair play to him, he didn't show any of that catholic guilt in the sex scene, and his cum face hahaha! In fairness though he's a quality young comic actor and i predict big things for him in the future.

Are you from the 1950s? What's catholicism got to do with anything?

Well i've never seen Brendan Gleeson or Colm Meaney take their pants off in a sex scene (thankfully). I mean to say it's a new generation of Irish actor.

Yeah, I know that.. but it seems odd to show this in the intro when everyone else has their powers alluded to.

PS - watched the first 3.. didn't enjoy the first one but the second and third were MUCH better.

One theory posted elsewhere is that
the wolf thing has nothing to do with Jeremy and that Nathan's power is along the lines of 'the boy who cried wolf'...if he lies about something enough it becomes true.
    Interesting idea.
