Sprained/strained ankle?

Not sure if this is the place to post but we will have a go....Not looking for medical advice but just a few viewpoints if anyone has sprained/strained their ankle or ankle ligaments.

I play soccer twice a week, once indoor and once on astro. My ankle is always in a state of being slightly sprained (if that makes sense:confused:)
I wear support bandages when playing but still manage to tweak or hurt it most weeks. I regularly ice it or run cold water on it before showering/bathing.

I'm due to play tonight after hurting it fairly badly last wednesday. (had to stop playing), have iced it,rested it and wore compression bandage for the week and it doesnt feel too bad now, though it is bruised and yellow.
Im going to strap it up and see if I can play anyway. (probably a bit foolish but it is very hard to keep any bit of fitness after returning to playing soccer after a 20year lay-off:eek: and I'm determined to keep playing if I can)

Anyone got experience of similar or an idea of how long it would need to be rested to let it fix properly?
Its a bit frustrating as I know I should probably rest it but you know the way it is....
Any specific ankle exercises to strengthen to help prevent a reoccurrence?

Ah, you are really to be fair. You shouldn't be playing on a sprained ankle. You'll just do damage to yourself. I'd say go and see a sports physio. Could be the best 50 euro you ever spend.
