A drunken woman in Boston, USA had a lucky escape when she fell in front of a train. The driver managed to slam on the emergency brakes and come to a stop inches from her head.

    Video from sky news

Almost.....almost, turns me off drink :D

I love how she doesn't budge an inch until the train has nearly taken her head off.

This reminds me of an old "Letter to the editor" in the Viz Comic.

    Went something like this...

I was casually waiting for the train to work when an announcement on the tannoy said "Train now arriving on Platform 2".
Imagine my surprise when I jumped to the safety of the tracks...

She was hammered drunk, clearly not thinking straight and no balance. So is she dumb because she drank so much? If so, then everyone I know is 'dumb' because we've all been there at least once (not falling onto tracks but drunk enough to fall over).

I've often got ****faced drunk, bet never went to a train station/tracks.

It was dumb, everyway you look at it.

I love how there's such long wait for the train to come, yet nobody even attempts to go down to the tracks to get her.

Although in fairness, i you're in that bad a state, it's your own fault.

I've been drunk in Boston, and I still made it home on the T. So therefore, I conclude, she is dumb.

But seriously, that is a pretty silly thing to do. There was no reason hanging so close to the tracks, lean up against a wall like an off balance drunk person would normally do (or lay on the ground and get sick).

Sorry to bring it up again, but she was probably just going home. The T in Boston is the equivalent of our Luas. You say you've never been to a train station/tracks when you were drunk so by that logic, if you're ever drunk do you go to yourself "Sorry lads, I'm walking home, I can't take the risk standing at the Luas stop or bus stop in case I might fall over".

She isn't dumb, she just had an unfortunate accident.

Looked kinda like she touched the third rail! Wonder if it shocked her and so she was kinda out (in more ways than one) of it lying on the tracks.

Unlucky to have fallen, lucky to have survived. Train driver was a bit silly though breaking at the last minute only, sure he'd loads of time to stop!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,789 ✭✭✭✭ScumLord

He had probably started braking back a bit, but the train couldn't come to a full stop straight away.

She was unlucky to fall, but extremely lucky to be unharmed. She was pissed as a fart - how many people on here have been that drunk? I would say a lot!

I wonder why she didn't move until the train had stopped? She must have been knocked out a bit or something. She would have had time to get out of the way.

I don't blame anyone else for not going down to get her. I wouldn't risk my life like that for a total stranger who fell because they were pissed. It would go against your instincts to jump onto train tracks when you know there's a train approaching.

If I saw something like that happening I definately wouldn't be putting my own life at risk to save her.

I have seen people do much dumber things but I wouldn't call her dumb outright. Very lucky, could happen to many people on a night out but more likely a car than a train.

I saw a sober man nearly get creamed by a Luas. He ran across the tracks at it was coming tripped landed on the track. Either he just pulled his legs away or the bit at the front managed to push his legs out of the way. He was dumb she was at lot less so.

Meh. Attempted suicide. Most people tend to jump at the last moment, this loon decided to get comfy on the track...

I feel the same, though I can understand why they didn't. People sometimes get stuck to the rails, and there is always the risk (especially when the person is under the influence) of being attacked by the person you are trying to help. Kind of like how saving someone in water can be risky.

Being pushed into a third rail for trying to help some drunk women is no fun.

Last weekend I was taking the subway in Boston and something very similar happened on the red line! Some drunk guy walked right up to the gap and kept going. He face planted on the tracks and then just laid there. By the time people pulled him up, his face was covered in blood.
Nice to know he's not the only drunk person riding the T in Boston.

Are you nuts ? They'd have been CRAZY to go down after her. Have you ever tried to pick up a drunk ? Takes ages and they fall over again repeatedly as she did after she got up

There is no third rail on the T - power comes from overhead.

I get that train every morning to work. Glad she is ok though. The exact same thing happening a few months ago in the same area. Luckily someone got an MBTA staff member and they got the man off the tracks before any train arrived.

Thats the green line, there is a third rail on the red line and orange line, that was the orange line i believe

    sooooooooooooooo fake

Luckily the T stops at 12:30am so im never hammered trying to get on it, i let the taxis take the brunt of my drunkness.
