What are you a little bit OCD about?

Everyone has little things that they are neurotic about. It's not full OCD, but little pointless things that they have to do otherwise they'll freak out.
For me, I have to wash my hands every half otherwise I'll be uneasy till I do.

My mate can't have the volume on his mp3 player on an odd volume number, and will always leave one potatoe on his dinner plate.

Someone else I know when buying a bottle of coke will only buy one that's been in the second row of bottles.

    So you?

In my DVD collection I can't have two things that are supposed to be one after another to be out of order, e.g. I have Scrubs seasons 2, 3 and 6. They have to be in that order, and if they aren't I can't keep looking at them that way, I have to fix them no matter what.

If I don't get the first response to OCD threads, everyone will die horribly, soon.

Yeah I know a few people like that too.

Another one is my mate who can't take a dump with his jumper or tshort on. Odd.

+1 for not leaving mp3/stereo/radio volume on an odd number, just wrong in so many ways.

I am the clutter queen, you'd have a shit-fit if you could see the stuff I hoard. I could do with you over at my place for a few hours! After that you could tidy the place up for me :pac:

When working. Everything on the shelf must be absolutly straight and neat with the bottle labels facing out. Nothing can be crooked otherwise i'll keep staring at it till I fix it.

Used to touch off a wall, door etc then had to do so with the other side of my body so if i leaned on a wall i would have to turn and lean the same but opposite for the same amount of time..

Milk must be just the right tempature otherwise I won't drink it if it's too warm or too cold. I won't drink milk thats been left out too. It must have just been taken outta the fridge.

Making sure every plug is out before I go to bed (though thats just safe!!)

Have to put my right sock and right shoe on first, then the left sock followed by left shoe. God help me I mistakenely put both socks on first!!

I always have to have the same shade bra on as top I'm wearing. Black top, black bra; Silver top, silver bra; red top, red bra.

    I'm a weirdo!!!

Yea but if the bottles from front to back say are crooked then its not right and i have to fix it till i'm happy with it. Also the label cannot face even a lil left or right. All forward.
Sad but I do a nice neat job.

I'm also wierd with volumes. Either even numbers or in fives - 12 is better than 11 but would take 15 over 13, 14 or 16 :S

    🤪

When i am in a shop buying something , when going up to pay , if they are having a chat with a customer in front of me at the till , i just have to drop everything i was going to buy and walk out of the shop .

I can't chuck stuff out. Every stupid scrap of paper in my room, I'll pick it up, think "but it come in handy one day" and stick it in a drawer.

And getting a drink of tap-water. I have to rinse the glass twice. If I want to rinse it again, I have to rinse it twice again. I can't rinse it out an odd number of times and can't drink from a glass without rinsing it first.

I can't drink milk that's been left out. Not at all. Even at the moment when it's freezing, if the milk's been out the fridge at all, I can't drink it. Has to have just came out the fridge

I have to listen to a song before bed, normally The Dubliners sining 'The Auld Triangle'. I don't know why, but if I don't I honestly have real trouble getting to sleep - I like my routine

Fago 25 - that's fairly OCD behaviour right there, every half hour? wow.

I like being on time, hate when im late, get anxious etc. Doesn't really bode well for nights out etc as im usually the first in

I have to make sure the back door and front door are locked before I go to bed. I tell my Ma and Da about five times everynight not to forget to lock the doors. Then after they go to bed, if I'm still awake I have to go downstairs and check that they are locked.

It's mostly volume myself too they can only be on an even number or a multiple of 5.
It hurts my head and makes my skin crawl if some changes it on me.
Toilet rolls, if they're hanging horizontal the flap has to be on the outside, I change it in other peoples house too (nuts I know).
I also have a habit of wiping down a toilet seat, even at home when I know I was the last person who used it.
When I was younger I didn't like using the toilet at home if I could readily remember who used it last.
Food, I eat my meals in a particular order, veg then carbs then meat/fish.
I also can't sleep with any doors, wardrobes or curtains open, or any lights on in the room, I cover the tv sensor with books.

I'm assured there's more, and I knowhow weird the above are.

I'm pretty OCD about making tea, especially when there's toast involved. I have to pour the water the second it boils, or else I get quite agitated. It's really bad when someone else is making my tea. I also have to put the toast down the second the water hits the tea-bag. Don't know why this, I guess it's just routine. And also because THE TEA JUST WON'T BE RIGHT IF I DON'T.

I couldn't think of anything I'm obsessive about till I read this. But the flap goes on the inside!

I too have the toilet roll facing the right way thing Ginny. I worry irrationally that I've forgotten to flush the toilet too, especially when we've visitors.
I feel uncomfortable if I pop a Starburst in my mouth without looking at it..like in the cinema, I find myself distracted from the film trying to identify the flavour.
I hate it when I've one wet hand and one dry one. I have to rub them together to even out the moisture:).
When I'm adding kisses on a card I always draw an odd number 'cos an even number looks unfinished..Look at this -
xxxx :( xxxxx:) See what I mean?

I used to obsessively have it hanging on the inside but I watched a prog with Anthea Turner about making your house nice and all that. She said have it hanging on the outside. I felt it didnt look right but I started doing it that way. Now I can't bear when it's on the inside.

Notes in order in the wallet.
Wallet in right pocket, phone and keys in left pocket, change in right hand back pocket,
Volume on telly has to be in increments of 5.

With me it's notes (when I have any) in order, wallet in back left pocket, keys and change in left, phone in right.

I can't sleep on my back or with socks on.

I have to tap the top of a can of coke 3 times before I open it.

    Oh, where to start!

    • People who use my pens. I tell them to respectfully fuck off!
    • When putting ATM/Debit/Credit cards in my wallet, the chip always has to be the furthest away from the top of the wallet so that the logo is visible.
    • When I place something on the middle of something else (e.g. put this vase on that table) I always have to make sure it is perfectly centered - not too far one side.
    • I always have to sit in the direction a train is travelling
    • I would feel uncomfortable going to sleep without brushing my teeth beforehand
    • Every time I brush my teeth, I always rub my tongue along my teeth afterwards. Every time!
    • Hygeine - I always carry hand sanatiser with me.
    • The volume on the TV always has to be set at even numbers, or at least nice round numbers (e.g. 25, 30, 25).
    • When buttering toast, the butter has to reach every single corner of the bread - no white spots!!

Notes in my wallet, highest value at the back, lowest at the front.

The layout of my desk, I can tolerate unusual things being on it like a cup, but if I find my xbox has moved to the left, I will fix it because I have to.

Toilet roll - the flap goes to the front.

Sinks - Have to be clean. No toothpaste/soap stains or food stains, clean!

Kitchen - Clean! Everything that is not a floor should be clean all the time, all counter tops, dishes the whole lot. If I drop stuff on the countertop when I'm cooking I like knowing I can pick it up and don't have to worry about sugar from somebody elses tea or something like that.

The Dinner - I sometimes get agitated when I can't clean up all the things I used for cooking before I sit down to my meal. There have been times my meal has been warm instead of hot because I had to clean up the wok, move the extras into tupperware and stick them in the fridge etc etc

The order of morning - Toilet, shower, teeth, shave. Never, EVER should it be different. things can be dropped according to necessity, but I'll never brush my teeth before toilet or shave before the shower or brush during a shower, no no no.

Edge, I love them! Lining things up, facing them off and all that sort of stuff.

Odd sums of money. I hate them. I'll give away a euro if I know I have 41 euro in my pocket. I'll spend it on crap, or whatever. Having 40.50 is fine, it's even ...40.51 and we have a problem...

Funnily enough I don't count many or any of these as odd

Can NOT sleep if any doors, wardrobe doors, windows are open in the room I am sleeping in.
I literally will not be able to sleep until I've closed it all.
Plus has to be pitch dark too. None of them feicing lights on up in the hall shining under the door!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,768 ✭✭✭almostnever

I have loads,I'll only post a couple for now.

-Nobody can touch food I'll be eating.
-The lights must be on at all times.
-I always have a red pen, blue pen, black pen and green pen out, even if I'm not using all/any of them.
-I can't STAND people touching me/being in my personal space.
-I won't let people touch my books. They don't respect them, and they leave them dog eared and with a damaged spine. And there hands are all greasy!

More of my neuroticism later :pac:

When watching a film I can't stand when the timer bar along the bottom, or the pointer, are visible. Always have to get rid of them or I can't enjoy the film properly.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 183 ✭✭smoggy11

I have to have double light switches facing the same way. It freaks me out otherwise and I can't sleep.

Also, I have specific ways I go places and do things. If I have to change these unexpectedly or change my plans on short notice I get quite freaked out!

I think everyone is slightly on the autistic spectrum to be honest. Theres loads more things I have but I cant think of them!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,258 ✭✭✭Numina

After walking beside somebody on the same side of them for a long time, and should I somehow be walking on the other side of them, I have to switch back.

For me everything has to be done on time. I always have to plan everything out and plan what time they happen like a sort of timetable. As well as that, everything has to be done on the hour or every half hour. So if I have to leave for college, I usually leave around 8:00am or 9:00am depending when I'm in, I hate leaving a few minutes before or after.

I also get uncomfortable around clutter or mess. If it's not in the bin I just can't stop thinking about it and clean it myself, even if it's not my mess.

I also hate odd numbers. Everything has to be done on even.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 51 ✭✭lauraisginger

    Right!
I have the volume one too, which I didn't know was that common until now! I made the mistake of telling my friends about this and of course lots of putting the tv on odd numbers on purpose followed!

The door of my bedroom at home kinda jams so I can't sleep if its closed fully because I feel like my room is airtight..weird I know!

I have a big problem with gaps in desks as well..you know say if you're in a class room or something were several desks are pushed together I can't deal with gaps between them, it actually drives me mad, I cant't do anything until the gap is gone!

I'm sure theres many more but at the moment the last one I can think of is people looking at my feet! It really really makes me uncomfortable!
