That's great news. If we continued having children, there's no way the population growth would stop. Happily, it seems that the demographic transition is becoming true. Hopefully this will be the beginning of an Earth population stabilization.

I would agree with the general sentiment, there are a lot of people who are too selfish to have children. And ya know what, recognising that and then acting on it by not having them makes them not really that selfish at all. Sensible if anything.

There are plenty more that are too selfish to NOT have them when they clearly shouldn't.

That arguement is ok enough but before I could buy it I would need information on possible changing attitudes of Muslims towards the use of contraception as without an indication that they are willing to use it on mass all accross Europe I don't see how the arguement has any weight.

I think shopping was a general term he used for excessive materialism.

Obviously baby clothes, cots etc are necessities not luxuries.

On topic though, I dont like children, and I dont think I'd be a good parent, and I cant afford them, so no, I'm happy to say I have no kids, nor do I want to have any. No excessive materialism to blame though, just a genuine feeling of not wanting kids fopr reasons above.

We need to create our own population increases and stop inward immigration. At the moment our population is growing (yet far from enough) mainly driven by Eastern European parents having children here where they could not do so economically at home, also the Echo Boomers are within the age and there is demographic growth in their generation. During the 1980's when our economy collapsed we experienced a baby boom as people focused on the important things in life and many many children were born and I am a 80's recession baby boomer.
