My left shoulder is way higher than the right side
    • What can cause this?
    • Should I be worried?
    • Who can treat it?

Lots of things can cause it. Muscular imbalance, curvature of the spine, hip displacement, wanting to have a different walk to everyone else, one leg shorter than the other, constantly not knowing stuff but only half shrugging about it...

In other words, lots of things. If you're worried, don't ask a forum, ask a professional.

Carrickmilo, yes, lots of things can cause it as Roper says.

It is hard to know where to go with these things.

Is it causing you pain? Could it be posture related - do you carry a bag on one shoulder? Sit hunched over a computer? Is it the way you write?

Anything like that I would tend to go to an osteopath - I can recommend a very good one in central dublin if you're based near there. This practice would tell you what the potential cause is, treat it if they can and if not would refer you on.

This osteopath identified issues in my right shoulder - I didn't know were there but were causing me back pain. I think i went several times before I said I'd been in a car accident as a child and had been hit on the right side - I had just thought it was so long ago I had thought it wasn't relevant but the legacy of the old injury was there.

Are you right handed? This could cause a slight difference.

You say the left is "way" higher so best go get it checked out by a professional.

    PM Ellechim for details.

    Good luck.
