Who will win ? thinking of backing the Russian giant .6/5 seems a good price , he's a foot taller and 7 stone heavier ?
    Valuev / Chelsea double ???

    Some facts:
    http://www.skysports.com/haye/story/0,27000,17213_5678590,00.html

Does anyone know when it starts?

They should be hitting the ring around 10:15 - 10:30

  • Moderators Posts: 8,754 ✭✭✭x PyRo

Sky Sports fellas said that they'll be coming in shortly after 9:30.

Haye will win on points imo. No value on his odds though.

Plus don't put Chelsea in the double, United will win. And i'm not a United supporter by the way!.

Took a price on thursday afternoon on Valuev @ 13/8, which it thought was way overpriced. Odds influenced by hayes optimism i reckon. I will eat my hat if Haye wins. He is a decent boxer but he will not deal with Valuevs advantage on weight and reach. I can see Haye being put down early too. Big money to be made on predicting the round Valuev wins in for those who dare ! Best of luck to all who have a wager on this fight! ;)

i can see this being a terrible fight and haye winning on Pts.

I think the odds reflect the usual sky sports bluff and hype around one of their own fighters. Everyone harps on about Holyfield outworking this guy and that if he can do it then so can Haye. Outworking an opponent isnt Hayes game, he will be looking to blast Valuev outta there from the off. I suppose thats what makes him exciting.
I think Valuev wins this hands down. Hes not a big puncher but his sheer size makes him a uncompromising puncher, especially for David Haye who will not have felt such power. Also it going to be difficult to find all these different punching angles people seem to think Haye is capable of throwing at Valuev. His size won't make these angles possible with a moving target in reality.

Its amazing the amount of casual fans this fight is attracting and its gas that all of them buy into Hayes bluff. I think Jim Watt on sky sports has it spot on, he questions Hayes stamina to punch and run for 12 rounds and thinks Haye won't be able to help himself by going for the knockout, which will be his downfall. You can nearly see it in Hayes interviews after the weigh in, for all his brash talk he is very nervous and I dont think he is half as confident as he lets on. hes like a guy who talks his way into a fight only to realise he is overmatched.
Also don't rule out the Don King factor, wouldn't be one bit surprised should Haye look like a points winner only to see him screwed by the judges on a split decision. But I think Valuev will stop Haye late when he tires down the stretch.

Saying that I really hope Haye wins (even though he's a pure flute). This division needs a bit of excitement and I wanna see Haye in the build up to a fight with one of the Klitchsko's.

All of Valuev's round betting is good value, from 28/1 to 40/1.

Also his group round betting, 16,14,11,12/1 is interesting.

I will have a punt on some of the above. Haye is untested at this level and could go down early. If he does go down from one of those shots he will not be surviving long after.

I hope Haye gets flattened, in all the build up to the fight he's been a cocky arrogant little sh*t while Valuev has been nothing but a gentleman. Hope Valuev makes a show of him, cant stand Haye

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 485 ✭✭blackbetty69

Haye to win by points (only just)... i dont see how anyone could knock out someone of valuevs size.. there have been questions too about hayes stamina, he only went the full 12 rounds once i think, and valuev is used to that amount of time in the ring, that could play a part in it..

Valuev's comment was priceless that Haye was " a mouthy little Englishman". I'm after buying it in, cant trust the streaming fights and I am hoping this is going to be a cracker. Would drop a ton if went out so in my skewed thinking it is saving me money :D

I hope Valuev gets knocked the fcuk out because of all the dodgy decisions he has got over the years. His whole career has been based around bent judges, hopefully Haye can expose him tonight. Valuev is also an incredibly boring fighter.

    hey guys,
long time reader, first time poster......
wanted to say that for a while now....

just wondering if any of ye know where it might be on in near conbrassil st, or that area?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 554 ✭✭✭spongeman

Im buying it in as well. Streams can get very messy and you can't see anything, apart from the refresh button and nutjobs chatting.

Problem for Haye is he has to avoid nearly all of Valuev's punches. When one lands thats it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,652 ✭✭✭Boooourns

Valuev is terrible to watch and heavyweight needs a haye win and i think he'll do it. I was going to back Haye on points but Roach said he'll do it by knockout so that's good enough for me.

    Cruiserweight world champion?

    Hi guys,
looking forward to this one. Gonna try to get it on a stream later.
Tried a stream for the middleweight super 6 there a few weeks ago and it was almost perfect.. Never gone PPV since we wasted money and stayed up til all hours for the Tyson/Holyfield biting fight a few years ago.

I dont know if I agree with the above about Valuev. I've watched a few of his fights on the tube, and he is VERY slow. He reminded me a bit of that Andre the Giant wrestler that used to be around a few years ago. Ladbrokes have the odds for both at 5/6 at this point, and I think that's how I would view it as well.

Says that it's kicking off at 22.00 tonight on my (Irish) ladbrokes site, so what are we looking at, about 10.40pm tonight or so by the time they get all the messing over with?

yeah I've seen some of his fights and hes a lot more entertaining to watch than valuev

Got down to the bookies (Ladbrokes), Early rounds for Valuev are around the 20's, so there is cash going on him. He was 33/1 for the first two rounds earlier.

Jays, I dont know man. I have a ladbrokes account online so I'll be throwing a few quid on it after I've investigated it a bit more.

But I thought Haye would be on the run for the first few rounds??

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 554 ✭✭✭spongeman

I have a feeling Valuev is going to come out fired up. We will know when haye gets hit for the first time.

I agree with Holyfield, David has taken this fight a bit early in his career.

Haye to go down in 6.

One solid punch from Valuev would do serious damage to any heavyweight fighter, and Haye has only fought a few times at heavyweight and would not be prepared for the huge power of the Russian, far more power than other heavyweights he has fought.

The replays on Sky are they also on box office??

If anyones feeling bored tonight can they post a few updates on the fight, I'm on the way back from Galway so obviously won't get to watch it, shouldn't be too much to post as I don't expect haye to be standing beyond the 3rd round.

I whole heartedly agree with you. For Haye to kiss the canvas would make my day. Don't think it will happen but one can always hope.

The show started on german tv 15mins ago but just talking. There seems to be no undercard as the ring is empty. Likes like a 10pm start.

Ring magazine are interestingly going for a Valuev late stoppage.

I hope Valuev knocks the head off him. Reckon it'll be a borefest though....?

forgot how boring heaveyweight fights were

so much slower than lower weigh divisons. that russian guy is such a big oaf. cant even box. just uses his weight

and lol at the people who paid money for this. such utter rubbish

Anyone being doing a points tally? I reckon valuev may have won the past two rounds with have getting the first two?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,080 ✭✭✭lmaopml

It makes for some good watching just looking at the size difference..lol...

I think Hays can take him, he seems to be wearing him down and picking him off. Just so long as he stays out of the way of any haymakers he'll be fine..

    Go on the Hays...WooHoo!!!

Haye gone into 5th. Pretty predictable, Haye had been on his bike hit one or two decent shots nothing to rock Valuev though. The russian is the agressor and trying to pin down Haye which isnt working for him. Strangely Haye looks the more comfortable of the two. Mid way through fifth another few head shots.

The judges will give at leats one of the first two to Valuev due to control of ring and him being the aggressor of the two

Haye must be walking this on points imo. Keep this up and he has it in the bag. Valuev need to start throwing combos and lure him in. Big time hit and run job here from Haye.

Beginning to wake up now I think. That was the best round by far. Going into 6th Id say judges have it even.

    No need for abuse.

That kind of abuse is self defeating, it completely negates any possible point he had.
