I can't remember the last time I saw such a one sided scrum

    19-11

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,249 ✭✭✭Stev_o

Castro has pretty much destroyed 3 front rowers by himself. We are murdering them at scrum time can't wait to see 14 men next because i can see SA loosing another prop at this rate.

    Leicester 19-SA 11

  • Its been a very good game too, atmosphere is fantastic as is always the case in these club vs country games.

Will be a great night in Leicester if they win this!

Castro giving a world class example of how the modern prop should play.

    Well Done Leicester Tigers :D

  • Place goes nuts, huge defence by Leicester and SA eventually cough up the ball, swatted and dragged into play by Leicester players!

Leicester a well deserved win! 22-17

What a game. Amazing defense at the end there. It think it went nearly 4 minutes over the 80 till SA spilled the ball.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,721 ✭✭✭Otacon

    Fantastic game. Castro MOTM imo

Bloomin hell! Thought the Boks were going to do what the Kiwis did to Munster last year. Cracker of a match!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,433 ✭✭✭✭thomond2006

    Well done Tigers.

Euh party at my house coudnt concentrare on the came. from what i saw Leicester were dogged. thorougly deserved to win. SA looked raw and np control, goal kicking was bad and Pienaar was rubbish.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 312 ✭✭Cuchulain

Sorry to be the voice of negativity but isnt this SA's 3rd string team? Pienaar is the only player that has been even close to the 1st 15 and Steyn wont be shifted in the near future.

Wouldnt the Tigers be expected to win this one?
On a sidenote, how did Tuqiri play?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,198 ✭✭✭✭Crash

2nd /3rd string, but at the same time Leicester were missing significant number of players - to me the most interesting thing was how well organised their second choice backrow were.

Rossouw, Chilliboy and Rose would also be pretty close to first team selection. Also, the Tigers were missing something like 12 players as well.

  • the commentators hated Rose. It was quite funny.

"Sometimes he does something brilliant, sometimes its absolutely rubbish"
"its things like that that make you see why De Villiers picks him even though nobody else would"

The skysports website needs a geography and history lesson:
Friday night's result can stand alongside Llanelli and Leinster's victories against the All Blacks on the role call of club sides taking on and beating the might of the southern hemisphere.

Just be glad they didn't mix it up with Leicester! We are lucky they even tried to mention an Irish team!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,249 ✭✭✭Stev_o

Yeah wanted to punch Mark Robson last night made so many commentating errors and he just can't help put mentioning Irish teams even if neither are involved in the specific game!

26 players haven't even left SA yet, but the preformance wasn't great either.

At the same time, the total number missing from Leicester was 13 players apparently - 5 lost to the English camp and another 8 to injury (not sure if Ben Kay is an extra to England or an injury) - it was very much a second string boks team, but it was a second string Leicester side as well.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,249 ✭✭✭Stev_o

We had in the region of 16 players missing. Our midfield consisted of two teenagers aged 18 and 19. Our pack contained only two regulars. Only our back three looked somewhat experinced.

    Missing players:
    A.Tuilagi
    M.Smith
    D.Cole
    J.White
    B.Woods
    T.Flood
    S.Vesty
    D.Hipkiss
    L.Deacon
    B.Kay
    J.Crane
    T.Croft
    G.Murphy
    M.Ayerza
    R.Blaze
    C.Newby
    J.Staunton (50/50)

I'm sorry but thats a scandalous statement unless its the Western Cape third team first XV your talking about.

They're both very average players and are only on tour for political reasons.

Wasn't saying they would make my first team! I'm saying they have a chance with PdeV's selection policy.

Thanks for clarifying , I completely agree with you.

Special mention for Dickinson's performance with the whistle. Once again, a referee helps a team over the finishing line with his leniency. Countless offences by Leicester towards the end of the game met eventually by an, er, warning. Great to see a club side beat a touring team and all that, but I hate this inconsistency of interpretation. Another ref and there's a reasonable chance the saffers would have sneaked home.

It was still a better match than either of yesterday's internationals and was was real edge of the seat stuff at the end - I really enjoyed it anyway. :D
