I'm starting boxing next week, purely as a means of keeping fit. I will be training twice a week, each session is 90 mins.
Can anyone recommend some gym exercises that would complement my training. My goal is to lose weight and develop lean muscle. Its not my intention to bulk up.
I want to lose about 10 pounds. I haven't trained for almost a year, am not really muscular at all now.

    Current diet is not great,

    Morning: Weetabix/porridge
Lunch: Brown bread sandwiches, either turkey or ham
Dinner: Meat is usually breaded chicken, chops, steak with potatoes and carrots/broccoli. Other days it may be spaghetti bolognese or chicken fajitas. I think this is where I am falling down.

Sometimes I may have scrambled eggs or omelettes. I also have homemade brown bread. I drink a lot of tea. No coffee. Very little alcohol.

I tend to snack on nuts (dry roasted or salted). The more I think about it, I think these are my major problem.

    Advice/criticism appreciated.

Firstly, Read the stickies on diet.

Snacking on nuts is good idea as long as they aren't dry roasted or salted. Just get some nice almonds.

Try work out your daily calorie requirements. To lose weight you need to comsume around 300 less calories then you require per day.
This doesn't mean you need to eat less, just eat less calorie dense meals, eat more fruit and veg.

Try inclue protein in every meal, up your veg intake in each meal, and lower your carb intake.

Sandwiches, with either turkey or ham. Mayonaise? Butter? Salad Cream?
Do you have sugar in your tea?

You wanna be careful about having things loaded with salt and sugar.
If you have sugar in you tea, try not adding it.

Try making your own lunches if you dont already. It cheaper, healthier and tastier mostly.
