Isotonic Drinks

Just wondering if anyone can shed any light or point me towards articles or information to show that it's actually worth using these when training.

    Do they work?

    Would people here recommend them?

Also, is there a difference between Lucozade Sport & Tesco brand 'Tesco Active - Isotonic Orange Drink'?

There's a big difference in price, are there different ingredients etc or are you just paying for a brand name with Lucozade?

    Thanks...

Isotonic drinks have 3 basic things in them:

    1) water
    2) sugar
    3) salt

The sugar and salt both help with the rate of absorption (i.e. make it isotonic). The sugar also helps replace sugar stores (glycogen) that you're using up. The salt also helps replace lost salts from sweating.

Any difference between fancy brand and own brand? Almost definitely not. I make my own. Here's an article on how to do it.
