    Ok...

We have the exception of those who essentially need to. Be it for children, visitors etc.

    Whatever the case, fair enough.

But what about individuals who just leave their phone on while going to bed, some of whom don't have a job even? No need for anything for sure during night time, only hope in vain that some miracle will occur if they leave it on.

I'm just bringing this up because witnessed a large amount of people giving out about this lately. I just think if you are thick enough to leave it on then it's completely your own fault. No point acting like the 5 year old mental age you maybe are in reality and giving out to someone who texted you early so that you'd have it when you woke up, not knowing how simple you were leaving something that will only ever wake you with bs unless it's your alarm, which in fact is easily set to sound even on silent or offline mode.

I always turn my phone off at night time.
Don't see any reason why not.. usually have it most of the day too

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,739 ✭✭✭✭minidazzler

I leave mine on, but then again I don't get up until late in the day so it needs to be, in case someone wants to contact me for beer, or sex, usually beer though :(

    On - just in case

Actually unless it's a case of ' do not disturb ' I just forget to switch mine off

I leave mine on, not because I'm hoping to receive a call, but because there's no reason to turn it off.

I leave mine on, is that a problem?

Just as easy to leave it on, I fail to see how it is possibly "Extremely stupid and immature".

I use my phone as my alarm but even when I don't I still leave it on, turning it off doesn't give me magical powers or anything.

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

Leave it on. Don't know any tards that would call or text in the middle of the night anyway!

I leave mine on, albeit sometimes on silent which undoubtedly defeats the purpose of leaving it on at all.

One of the reasons I leave it on: I live 3 hours away from my parents so God forbid if anything should happen, it's the only method of contact I'd have.

What if you don't have a landline? Really need to put a wee bit more thought into the thread.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,547 ✭✭✭Agricola

If i thought of it, id turn it off at night. It saves the battery, so I dont find meself constantly having to charge it.

I knew a guy whose phone was NEVER off. It went from a state of either been in his pocket or plugged in to charge at night. The only people ever called him were me and his mammy!

i have a work mobile which i turn off at night.

i leave my personal phone on 24/7, unless im on a plane.

the reason is that my parents are both elderly, and while they are in good health i still like to be available to them should they need me urgently.

I always leave mine on at night.
Takes ages for my messages to come through if my phone's been off. My phone won't let me send messages for ages after I turn it on again as well, so it's easier to just leave it on all the time.

I leave my phone on 24/7 because i cant be arsed turning it off, what difference does leavin it on at night have?? Like if i switch it off tonight will i be smarter and more mature in the morning?? Must try that!

Your thread fails, you can't turn back now.

    Fin.

On silent and charging for the morning when the alarm goes off.

Immaturity doesn't really feature much OP.

    Nope.

Never turn my mobile off actually, also use it as an alarm.

    c) Alarm clock.

Still works when phone is on silent though.

If I'm asleep and don't want to be distrubed - my phone is on silent.
I can't stand when anyone whinges about receiving a text/call when they are asleep, put it on silent ffs.

People turn phones off at night? Why? Your just gonna turn it back on in the morning

What's the problem leaving it on? I use mine for the alarm but why is it stupid? Do you think it's risky 'cos of the waves emitting from it? I'd never think to turn it off anyway. No one texts or rings in the middle of the night, if anyone did it'd be important.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 455 ✭✭Xyo

I used to turn it off then a friend was in a car cash and I didn't hear about it until the next day.. now it stays on.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,097 ✭✭✭✭zuroph

The alarm on most phones works even when its switched off..

but I leave mine on as I have no landline and want to be contactable in an emergency, such as if one of my parents took ill.

    stupid thread.

I'm curious as to why anyone would switch their phone off at all. I had my last phone for 3 years, and never switched it off the whole time I had it.

I leave mine on. Explain how I'm immature?

Dont have a landline so in case of emergency I leave it on. When I had a land line I never plugged it out at night either :D

This isn't is case with all phones. Some do, some don't. With my phone there is the option to power on if off.

I never switch my phone off. I like to know its o in case of emergencies and what not. Also i have a head like sieve and dont really remember my pin code to get it back on

I think all phones have that option.

I think its called the on/off button.

    stupid thread.

It's annoying that there isn't an option (at least not on my dated phone) to create a profile containing people for whom your phone will ring for when they call but will remain silent for all other calls/txts.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 512 ✭✭✭wilson10

I suppose if you were a hermit with no friends or family whatsoever and were concerned about battery life and the cost of replacement, then you might seriously consider switching off at night.

I feel somewhat stupid and immature even answering this thread.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 442 ✭✭smiley girl

I leave mine on always. I turn on the 'sleeping' profile when going to bed, just so I don't leap out of the bed if it rings!
I leave it on for many reasons, 1) incase of emergency, 2) alarm, 3)to see the time if when I wake up during the night, 4) cos i want to!
I don't think that makes me 'stupid and extremely immature' in any way, fail to even see why it would tbh.

Actually, I don't think I know anyone who DOES switch their phone off?? Although, having said that, I don't normally ring anyone in the wee hours!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 27,944 ✭✭✭✭4zn76tysfajdxp

I used to leave it on, but I've been pranked in the middle of the night in the past so I find it wiser to turn it off. Also, I'm not available/arsed to speak to people 24 hours a day, like some of the angry repliers in this thread. Maybe you'd be less grumpy if you had a full night's sleep?

I leave it on, i just turn off the music tones so it beeps for a text or a call. Oh leaving it plugged into a charger overnight must be dumber than leaving it on tbh...quick fix way to a house fire:p
