Just wondering, who here is Living in the 90's? Listening to boyzone, ehh I mean Take That, Oasis, Blur and Other generic 90's groups.

Who here is too cheap to pay for broadband? And does it make you feel less inferior then us other people with broadband?

Discuss, then throw abuse around (or, throw abuse around, then discuss...)

just because you don't pay for it doesn't mean you don't have it.

Dial up is fairly expensive when you think about it.

My parents just got wireless, no wired bb available. I remember nearly upgrading to ISDN (what a waste of time that would have been!) a few years ago but then I decided I was going to move.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,624 ✭✭✭✭Fajitas!

I'm on 3's mobile broadband... And there's f*ckall coverage where I've moved into. It's driving me demented. And I wouldn't mind, but I'm only a 20 minute drive into the very centre of London.

To make it more frustrating, we're not able/allowed get a new line into the house to get real broadband.

I suffer from the Three Broadband disease too, I ain't gonna rant about it because I've been told I complain too much about it! :o

Suffice to say their customer service are skillfully adept in accepting your complaint, and sending you around in circles til you get fed up of complaining

It is not crazy that 3 were given alot of money by the government to provide broadband nationwide yet they offer a worse service than vodafone, o2 & possibly meteor too.

I let my neighbours steal my non-secure internet connection.

In return I steal all their user names, passwords and credit card details :pac:

He needs to get some Two-Way Satellite broadband, or One-Way Sat broadband using a Mobile phone as the upload device.

I have a broad band satallite gathering dust with all the vcabeling and bits and peaces needed. there pretty good.

Ive got a 3g service at the moment not happy with it. i want broad band so i can online game but i can't afford it and eircom charge stouid amounts of money for it, theya dvertise that a 3mb connection would cost this much but for get to say that there 25 euos extra on line rental alone :(

Mental Picture #1 : An Bord Pleanala having a heart attack wondering who granted planning permission in a protected area

Mental Picture #2 : Wondering if it's hygenic to use a keyboard while you're - er - "unloading"

That said, there are MASSIVE areas of the country where it's impossible to get broadband, or even the midband mobile services, so the assumption that it's only that people are too much of a cheapskate to pay for it is pretty deluded...

I dont pay for broadband because other people pay it for me.
In my neighbourhood Ive a choice of 6 Eircom 1mb networks with the default eircom w.e.p code, brilliant!

So yeah, ive got broadband thats equivalent to dial up, that 1mb broadband is shared between 20 homes and then subtract the amount of people "borrowing" it too! So I switch from one network to another through the night to get the best one.

    Ha, brilliant.

I had to leave the country to get broadband, Eircom promised the area broadband years ago; humankind will evolve into a state of pure energy before those arseclowns can build a reliable infrastructure.

    Ah memories :)
Anyone remember trying to connect during peak times? the "dialling now 1 of 10 failed" messages? lol I hated that noise until my old job required me to listen out for it in part. (2008)

I wonder do people on dial up have better sex/love lives due to lack of downloadable/ streaming porn?

    I have 20MB broadband.
3 minutes is a bit of an exaggeration on a 700MB file. Takes roughly about 5 minutes when the ****ing thing is working.

UPC were out last week after bringing me a new router after the other two failed.
They were working on a noise problem on the line.
Dude said that they are going to be upgrading the line this week, so that means another week of interrupted service.
It also means I have to keep using my really old wireless dongle thingy which doesn't recognise any encryption stronger than wep.
It does have fantastic range though and I can pick up several 3MB eircom lines.
