I had a raleigh ultra burner - it was silver. BMX beat was like a religion for me, saturday morning watching andy ruffle doing all the tricks...bliss!
Did you do the reddy brek bmx competition? One of the kids on my street won it. I'm still jealous over it :D

    Happy days!

I started off on the worlds heaviest bmx. a rockman, it was a chrome burner replica with wire wheels. i eventually graduated onto a haro master. it took lots of saving.

I had a Raleigh Night Burner...I loved it..loved the black and red colours, I remember getting "Pegs" put on the back 2 wheels so people could stand on the bike as well.:). The bike ended up getting nicked from outside my house...I never really got over it:mad:.

I managed to get a raliegh grifter just as B.M.X started in Ireland,1982,ended up snapping the forks, then flogged it too the second hand shop for 15 pound.

I eventually got a team hawk B.M.Xnever raced just rode at the local rider built tracks and at Vernonmount Cork.

Snapped the frame on that one..that was the end for me moved on to racers.
My cousin gave me his raliegh styler last year.I have been riding again since 2003!Why not skateparks and pumptracks are great crack.

I remember getting really into BMX when I was about 10, inspired by a load of books from my local library! Sadly it was the wrong decade and by 1997 the craze had kinda died down much to my bitter disappointment :(

I only had the dam bike about a year before it was stolen

The styler is parked in the spare room.I replaced a few parts, inner cables, brakeblocks, pedals and back tyre but with what is known as old new stock.Hope too ride it when the weather comes good.

I built up a mc neill duece to ride as my main bike. There's photo's in my flickr of that too.
There is a renewed interest amongst the 80's riders in Dublin anyhow, alot are riding again at Chuckies,if you rode back in the day you'll know where it is.
Your styler is in much better condition than mine.Never liked the vectar, but used too drive the assistant in the bike shop round the bend just playing with the sounds it makes..

Yeah,i had loads of Star Wars/Action Man and 70's/80's TV show related stuff when i was a kid. I suppose they were just toys to us,we'd no idea they would be valuable in years to come or we might want get all nostalgic about them in later life.

    good man keep it up!!

    cheers

what can i say deadly stuff!! did you restore the burner yourself?
you should start up a company if you did, its a great job

it looks better than the original with the white mags
love it!! i would buy that of ya if you were selling!

just getting me spoke in , parden the pun! :-)

love the red and white colours burners were had great colours in the 80s, did you get the bike in the buyandsell or did someone give it to you? raleigh bikes from the 80s are so hard to find, i mean they are chickens teeth today

if you do find a bmx its in bits some times only half of it is tere
    nightmare! :-(

well you asked if my grifter is original!!
yes it is, just like my raleigh styler and raleigh vekter my grifter is all original to the last R-nut,

i got it up the north of a lad in belfast, had it in his shed for years
its 1982 last grifters to be made mk2 100% complete minor sticker wear works like a dream, steel frame, bulid like a tank,

yes its black and gold the rare colour, as you know red, blue, silver were pretty common on our streets in the 80s but the black and gold super grifter as it is called was a rare sight indeed, the same gold thats on the grifter was used on the raleigh super tuff burner!

so on that note it is a rare bike to have and i will put up photos buy the weekend, infact i will throw up my 3 bikes for the last time all standing in a row, and a special shot of the grifter! ;-)
    that will be a nice

so thats the crack! i imagian the bmx team burner in the attic will be staying tere is it loose or in the box?
if its loose put those babys up on screen an gis a goo!!

another bike i would buy of ya!! jasus she would kill me lol :-0

    cheers

Alright roses.I did restore the whole bike painfully but i could see the finished product in my mind so i struggled on.The pictures don't do it justice. The best part of restoring any bike back to its former glory is the first time you take it out for a test run and knowing you've saved it from the skip.I just put an add on-line and got a reply back two months later from a bloke closing an old shop down.As you can see it was left in a leaky shed for years. If you do come across one let me know if you need ANY help as i have plenty of contacts. This burner seems to draw the kids in from all around the area so i could see a market for them but they are getting hard to source. Thanks for your comments roses,it makes the hard

work restoring them worth while.I'll post more pics up as soon as i can;)
p.s.Are the electrics still working on the vektar
