Windows 7 = Vista for all practical purposes. More lightweight. Significantly de-crapified. So virtually anything that works on Vista works on 7. The changes in 7 are mainly to appearances rather than to deep down functionality.

Microsoft has re-painted the road signs with Windows 7. However the road is still potholed and carries a lot of baggage accumulated over the decades.
