Tone Tummy Area

I have started a fitness programme (jogging) and I am finding it very good. I am losing inches rather than weight I'm told this is due to me turning my fat into muscle.

My main area of concern at the moment is my tummy. While it is getting a bit more toned with the jogging I wanted to ask you guys if there is anything else I can do along with the running to speed up the toning of my tummy. Should I just be doing sit ups, would an ab roller thing help. I was thinking of doing some swimming would this help? All advice welcome.

    Thanks

Fat cannot turn in to muscle and vice versa.

You are probably loosing fat which makes you look better.

Anything which burns calories will help. Swimming is a good option to compliment the running. It is a zero impact exercise (if you don't bang your head off the end) and is kind to your joints. It also helps with flexibility. Make sure that you are swimming and not standing around.

How is your diet? Post up details of a typical day:

    e.g.
    • 8am: what do you have for breakfast?
    • 10am?
    • noon?
    • etc

Ab exercises such as situps will work the ab muscles but this is no good if you have layers of fat covering them. Just keeping working away with the running/swimming and watch the diet.

Thanks BossArky I really appreciate the input. Swimming it is so. I am jogging 3 times a week so I was planning on swimming twice a week. Sould this be ok. I do have some fat on my tummy area that I would like to lose so I will stick with the jogging and swimming to get rid of that and then begin the sit ups!

My typical daily diest would be

8am weetabix or porridge or a scone
    10am fruit
12.30 tuna salad or chicken salad or ryvita with ham and cheese spread
3.30 fruit or a handful of almonds
6.30 chicken fajitas or chops & potato or lasagne or mince wraps
or homemade soup & toasted sandwich or steak and oven chips or
chicken curry with brown rice or, sweet and sour chicken with brown
    rice
I will have the odd treat at the weekend which could be two glasses of red wine or a couple of squares of choclate. I should point out my diet was much worse than this until I started the jogging a few weeks ago. I am trying to improve my diet with the jogging so all advice on the diet above would be welcome.

Thanks again for your help. I'm very new to this and need all the help I can get.
