Cheers for that, some do some dont. I dont eat meat, fish or poultry, But do eat dairy products.

Its not because of animal cruelty or any of that just by choice.

it depends are you the type of veggie who will eat eggs?

Other then that as stated nuts, seeds, legumes, milk however probably wouldn't be a bad idea getting a protein supplement as well as even us meat eaters will use one to top up our protein intake if needed

Vegetarian does not eat fish - those that do are not vegetarians.

    Pescatarians eat fish.

Vegans do not eat animal products such as dairy, Vegetarians do.

Thanks for that, it wrecks my head when people hear I'm a veggie and then say 'oh but you eat chicken and fish don't you?!', eh no, where do you hear 'chicken' or 'fish' in the word VEGetarian????

OP, I'm in the same predicament, except I don't like cheese or milk or eggs, the thought of them makes me ill... so I'm trying to up the protein shakes.

If you're gonna be getting a lot of your protein from shakes, I'd suggest that it's worth paying the extra for whey isolate.

Lots of beans and pulses. You have to mix a few different types together in the one meal to make sure you get all the essential amino acids because individually they won't have the full complement.

I would try to avoid soy as much as possible, especially if you are a guy. There are all kinds of issues with phytoestrogens in soy which are biologically active in humans as oestrogen. For women this can be great. For men, not so much (not at all!).

You can easily boil up kidney beans, red and green lentils, split peas, chick peas etc and keep them in the fridge for 4-5 days and then make a mixed bean/pea/pulse salad with a little olive oil and lemon juice and some fresh mint leaves. It's really tasty and packed full of protein. There's loads of other recipes too that all call for a variety of beans and pulses to provide the protein. And don't be afraid to get a little adventurous. Seaweed is an excellent source of protein and there's plenty of that in Ireland. You might have to find it in the healthfood stores or pick it yourself if you're on the atlantic coast (avoid taking seaweed from the Irish sea...sellafield!).

Whey is a protien you get from milk, you make butter from milk fat and whey from the other bit. Generally refined and powered.

Add it to milk and drink twice a day to help build muscle tissue when training. (I have to add that I don't take it myself.)

If you eat dairy products then milk and cheese are good sources of protein but I'd always go for the low fat options, you'll still get about the same amount of protein from both but half the fat. If you're eating more nuts now that should see meet your fat requirements too.
