Hi. So I started a diet a while back and have lost about a stone, back to the weight i wanted to be at. I have lost the extra weight i had around my waist. I was just wondering if it's worth my while doing stomach exercises now that my stomach is flat? It's flat but you can't see any definition. I am lifting heavy in all areas, should I just continue training hard? Are abs only visible when your body fat is really low? I wouldn't know what mine is at now but I no longer have any spare weight hanging off me like before.

    Hi There

Firstly congratulations on the weight loss.

Secondly it will not hurt to add some Ab/Core exercies to you workouts, however as you have rightly said, visible abs are as a result of low body fat (<10% approx for men and <14% approx for women) and not directly from ab specific exercises.

If you are working out in a gym, enquire if they do body fat measurement with calliphers and if they do, then have your body fat measured.

The other thing not to forget is that as you lose weight, the number of calories you require for maintenance decreases, This means that if you are trying to drop your body fat further you will have to adjust you daily calorie intake down also. The often reccommended deficit for fat loss is between 250-500 calories under your maintenance figure. This should give you about .5 lb to 1lb weight loss per week, which should hopefully be mostly from body fat.

    Best Regards,

    M

you sould always do some form of core work and focus on the ones i mention in this vid to get started - just do not go and buy an ab king pro!!

Most people emphasise stomach exercises with no progressive resistance so you must move on to harder exercises as you improve
