    Hey all,
My mom is basically getting worried about the supplements im taking and she wants me to see a sports nutritionist.

Im just wondering if anyone can reccomend a good one that wont just tell me creatine and whey protein are bad for my kidneys etc etc.

Btw: im based around the dundrum area but will travel if needed.

I know it's the middle of the afternoon, I know the atmosphere in here right now is messy at best, but really is there any need for this kind of OT BS?

I don't have any info that will help you buuuuut... i'm still in your position kinda when i go home (at 22), i find the best approach is that what she doesn't know won't hurt her.

    +1

Best thing to do is counter attack with comments on their own diet.. i.e. drink, cigs, fast food etc Tell them if they don't know what damage they're doing to themselves, they then have no right to critique your attempt at a healthy lifestyle.. basically.. be stubborn

Look Cardio not to be a dick but i don't think you need the creatine yet and i'd prefer if you took it when you get to 19-20, i know i'm only being a dick but **** it man take your time!

No my parents stopped ages ago. I just sat them down and gave them the facts. I don't use creatine myself, just protein powders so it was pretty easy. Plus they have seen I have gotten a lot bigger than I was last year so they don't doubt it. Bottom line is I am a wonderful son!!

The blood test could actually be beneficial if you get them to check for deficiencies and whatnot, try to get something out of the experience you know?

Gotta give a +2 to the creatine comment too, you wouldn't be missing anything if you didn't take it for a few years yet.

i have no problem with the blood tests, im actually all for them. But on the creatine note, why wait? Like ive seen so solid proof of side effects to it at any age, Like im not just being stubborn, i just see no reason to not take it.

Ditch the creo and just eat good food. It's far better.

I'll give you a decent enough reason: I want to win the reps battle! :D

I can relate to the mother being concerned, but that's sort of passed since I spend my days making drugs now (legally, of course).
I actually used to have fun with it, saying things like "I just always feel so angry for some reason!". Priceless reactions, and we're talking about one scoop of ProX here!!

It's only creatine. Probably the most hyped media buzz-word concerning the excesses of teen rugby players who eat NoXplode for breakfast, lunch and dinner :D, and is a complete waste for most of them, but you know what you're doing training/diet-wise so are more than capable of making this call on your own.
The only advice I could give is that over the next 2/3 years your strength/size gains are going to come on more than ever. You'll be getting consistently stronger completely naturally. You don't want to be relying on a supplement, which will happen if you feel it's giving you an extra rep or whatever.

It's hardly like they're mutually exclusive options...

I know that, what age is Cardio though? 16-18? He's far better things to be spending money on instead of Creatine at that age in my opinion unless he can afford to. Creatine definitely has a place in a diet, I just think that it's something you should look to introduce when you hit 20 or so.

the bloods wont show any creatinine abnormalities i expect.
I take about 15g of the stuff per day and get bloods done 1-2 times per year and they're always normal.

Just tell her creatine occurs naturally in steak.

Or else just keep an old protein tub and put your creatine in it.

i like the second idea! and i can afford it perfectly :)

    I think cardio's a vegetarian, so that won't help. :p

Cardio, I'm not sure what your diet is like.

Maybe you should make it obvious to your parents that you are eating correctly and not relying on a supplement crutch.

Get in to the kitchen and start having 6 scrambled eggs whenever your folks are about. If watching tv sit there quaffing on a 2 litre of milk whilst your bro's drink the cans... or whatever. Make it obvious that you are trying hard with a full natural diet.

I don't think you need creatine either at such a young age.

Unfortunately, parents will worry just as much about eating more than a few eggs a week and drinking litres of milk as they will about taking supplements.

More than 5 eggs a week can kill you ya know. :)

I eat about 16-20 a week. Get my blood checked every 6 months, cholesterol is grand.
