Hi, I am looking for some advice or some information based on past/similar experience. About a year ago i started on the pill logynon and since have got recurrent yeast infection. I have always been susceptible to infections after antibiotics etc but since the pill it comes and goes (very frustrating) My doc changed me to a lower dose pill yasmin but theres no difference. Ive tried all treatments including diflucan for 1 month, i'm jus about to finish up the month and theres no difference, I'm still with infection (though not as severe). I understand that oestrogen produces sugars that yeast thrive off so I am thinking of changing to a progesterone only contraceptive and I think IUS may be best for me because before going on any pill i had very heavy periods and I've read that progesterone can help with that aspect as opposed to using the coil only. Does anyone have advise on how you can change from one to another, whats the procedure. What advantage and disadvantages there is to IUS and what are your periods like longterm wise..are they regular and predictable. Also what are your periods like when you first go on it. Thank you in advance for any information relevant or not its much appreciated.

If you having that much trouble with trush I would ask your dr about a referal to a gyn consultant tbh and also make sure that if you have a partner they are not cross infecting you.

As for Period on the IUS, mine stopped all together after 3 months with the first one and
I had 1 when the second was fitted and they stopped agian.

Hi, thanks for your reply. I am going stop my pill and finish up the course of diflucan and then ask my doc for a referal if i still have the infection. Can an IUS be felt or noticed during sex and is there different types of IUS devices

I can't say that either myself our my partner have ever noticed it tbh.

and is there different types of IUS devices

    Only one. The Mirena IUD/IUS.

You can of course still opt for the old school copper coils also.

Best bet is to go back to your GP and get a referral to a Gynae, both for your yeast infection and also as the pill does not seem to be without problems for you. They have a much greater understanding of contraception than your average GP and will be able to best advise you on viable options. Good luck with it.

The ius is lodged up in the womb and the strings attached come out the neck of the womb.
My dr left them long enough so that they could be ticked back over the cervix and I have never had anyone notice.

Hope you got some of the answers you needed however overall think it best you speak with your GP.
