    9/10

    Not a fan of those
purple dudes when you enter Shambhala
and that's the only reason it loses a point

    Otherwise, I can't find a fault.

    Gameplay, script, graphics, characters, story....brilliant

Only just started it but I have to stay the game looks stunning. I have a very high end pc and alot of the games don't come close to this one in terms of detail and colour.

The only minor thing I don't like is the way grenades are thrown, it doesn't look or feel right.

can you play online co-op? my psm is sparkie-0 if anybody wants to play.

Amazing game... game of this generation though? I dunno, for me Demon Souls stands out as very innovative and immersive.

I'll agree with GT's review in that there is really nothing in the way of visuals or gameplay or plot that is new. What it has done though is really polish tried and tested gaming standards to a level that has never been seen before in 1 package.

By far though the most impressive aspect and achievement of this game is the level design and detailing. Seriously, in each room you enter have a look around, there will probably be something there that is no other part of the game. Gone are the days of Mario when a cloud doubled for the shape of a bush for the entire game :D

For me it gets a 9/10 (the 1 point is lost due to slight niggles in the controls which really aren't worth mentioning, but stop the game being perfect for me)

EDIT: Add me for coop, PSN: leimrod

Only on chapter 7 but its great so far. The helicopter part is

Really liked the first Uncharted, just wondering how many hours of gameplay it takes to finish the single player, am I better off renting?? is the online any use?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,479 ✭✭✭Niska

Damn near perfect. Some minor niggles, but nothing too major. 9.5/10, IMO.
The Avatar rejects in Shambalya were annoying, especially the amount of ammo they needed to be taken down. And the final boss fight I found was verging a bit on the tedious. Especially when you hear "you will not stand in the way of destiny!" the tenth time...

Controls were great, except for some slight cover "confusion" occasionally.

Apart fom taht what wlse is there to say... The helicopter chase! The Train! The tank battle! The truck chase! The storyline was decent nothing overly new or exciting) but the characters were brilliant, the interaction great and the humour actually funny.

Maybe a slight over reliance on the giant ancient machine trope, but that's an established weakness of the genre so meh.

Now to try Crushing... And maybe some co-op.

Is this better than the first one? I just got a PS3, having had an Xbox for ages, and this was one of the first games I got. I'm not too far into the game (after Castle where you find Elena) on the first one, but I remain fairly unimpressed. It's good, but not great. Very glad I got inFamous on the same day as that was excellent.

The online coop is good. I'll definitely be coming back to it a few times.

The SP campaign is maybe 12 hours long, max, with cutscenes included. If you have no interest in the online make it a rental. I completed it myself in 2 6 hour sessions.

Sounds very good. It's one of the things I loved about the first Metroid Prime that every room not matter how inconsequential had a unique feel. Haven't seen that level of detail in anything since. I need to get some money and get this game :(

I finished it earlier, what a great experience! The characters really are amazing, it's hard not to root for Nate. The set pieces are so exciting, particularly the
    train
. I had to finish up before I could play multiplayer, but I'll be giving it another go later.

What is also excellent is the use of colour throughout the game. They've listened to the critics of this generation of games and the standards for supposed "realism" and kept every level and area vibrant. I haven't seen this level of colour in a blockbuster game since the 16bit era.

What's also funny is that there is an optional "Next Gen" filter that you can enable, which basically makes all the colours looked washed out and gives everything a browny/grey hue :D

The visuals look like they wouldn't look outa place on PS4 unbelievable. The Nepal level is redonkuless, script and voice acting is a notch above everything else on either console. GOTY I'd say and easily the best reason to own a PS3, what a year for Sony, I'd be sickned if I didn't have a PS3 rite now.

    8.5/10

Enjoyed the game. Gameplay improved over the first, more variety in level design and gameplay, great pacing, dialog and characters where good, kept most of its cheesy charm, no quick time events, excellent set pieces so real cool sequences, and ending while not spectacular good was solid and did not fall to pieces like so many other games.

I have some minor negative. Nothing too major, preferred the story and charm of the first game but thats not to say Uncharted 2 story was bad but that I just like the original story more. A.I of both friend and foe was a bit rubbish at times, but not consistently bad enough for it to really matters.

Not interested in multiplayer so I can't comment on it.

Overall I enjoyed the game and was well worth the asking price. It picks up the adventure mantel where Indiana Jones dropped it. Bring on Uncharted 3: The Mysteries of Shadoloo!.

Just finished it! Love the last 60 seconds or so of conversation, bloody hilarious :D

9.5/10 for me, some of the cover bugs were a pain in the ass, but other than that it was amazing! Definetly the GOTY for me.

I'd definitely give this game a 10, even though there's some bugs, the cover system is awkward and it doesn't really do anything new, but none of that took anything away from the enjoyment of playing.

The best thing about the game has to be the dialogue, especially the bits not in cut sequences. It really makes the game feel a lot more dynamic and less linear than it is. Like in one part where I fell into a pool of water and Chloe says "I can't believe you just got in there". Or the panicked phrases Nathan comes out with when a grenade lands near him. I'm a sucker for little details like that.

    My favourite was when
I jumped in the pool at the top of the hotel and Nate said "Hey Chloe, Marco...," Chole: "Stop is Nate," Nate: "Ah come on Choloe, Marco...
Thought it was a really funny nice touch.

    Also in
the town in the mountains when you first wake up after the train and are following tenzin through the village there's a point where kids a re playing football and the all rolls over towards you, you can walk over and hit triangle to kick it back to them

I have to say I'm pretty much wow'ed with the amasing graphics. It's up there with the moment I hooked up my 3DFX Voodoo1 card to my PC and fired up Quake2 in all it's 3DFXness glory ! The effects are really amasing. For example,
the bit near the beginning where you fire up the blue orb thing to light the under gound cave.
    Really cool looking. also,
even in the city, the perception of height when you're hanging around outside the hotel climbing upwards...

I'm only on chapter 6 but I have to say it's an amasing experience so far. Even my Mrs. is enjoying watching me play. I only get to play an hour here and there but I don't mind least it will last a couple of weeks :)

    Finished SP in 2 sittings.

    Gameplay - Amazing!
    Graphics - Amazing!
    Overall - 10/10
    GOTY? - Yes!

Re: Bugs - After the 2nd chapter...I increased the difficulty...Completed the game...Went back and did the first 2 chapters on the new difficulty setting...Flicking through the chapters, It's acknowledged I've completed the game on this difficulty...but it won't award me the trophy for same!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,067 ✭✭✭L31mr0d

The dialogue was definitely brilliant, what separated it from most was that it's context based. It wasn't just generic conversation thrown in, like in the last PoP. As you progressed and completed different actions the dialogue changed.

It felt natural and unforced. Drakes nervous laughing after some perilous event was also brilliant.

I loved the bit where you are
climbing into the ice cave and the camera pans back and to the right of the screen, close to the camera, there is a black mass that looks like a pillar of ice in a shadow, then suddenly it turns around and looks right at the camera. Made me nearly jump out of my seat. But what was excellent was that, literally in sync with Drake, we both said "What the hell was that?" at the same time.

Ridiculously good. I had read a lot of reviews on websites and magazines but didn't think it could possibly be as good as they said but it really is.

If this game does not get game of the year it will be a sin crying out for vengeance.

Unfortunately I suspect some are considering MW2 for that honour even though it hasn't been released yet. Can anyone tell me what the last exclusive GOTY was?

There's loads of different game of the year awards from various websites and all that. So Fallout 3 won a few, LBP won a few and Joystiq.com had Fable II as theirs. I don't know if any is considered the official game of the year award, like the Oscars or something.

I'd like a job as a judge on that award ceremeony, you'd be loaded from all the backhanders from EA\Ubisoft\sony..etc.

As for drakes, game voice acting and characters have reached the pinacle. All games should aspire to drakes. and the gameplay was nice too.

I know we're kind of drifting off topic but this is interesting.

When a GOTY edition comes out, who's GOTY is it? Surely that must be the official one. Or else you'd have 20 games of the year edition every year!

Seriously is anyone having the problems I'm having with multiplayer, if I even get a game my character keeps frezzing while everyone else keeps running around.....kinda annoying when in a firefight.

But you do, I bought the Fallout 3 Game of the Year edition last week and the LBP Game of the Year edition is out in a few weeks. Also the Fable II and Gears of War 2 Game of the Year editions are out at the moment. They're generally just versions of the game with the extra DLC and stuff included.

My Fallout 3 box had about 5 different website and magazines listed and for some of them it was just nomintated in the game of the year catergory, didn't actually win it. It's more of a marketting thing than anything.

Currently on chapter 15 and im addicted, The Story line is brilliant, the cut scenes are fantastic!

One thing i love about it is the feel of non-linear motion im getting. Like in certain sections i know theres only one way i can go, but it feels like i have plenty of options!

The game play is awesome, fighting system is stellar to watch and the stealth is superb!

Quite enjoyed it, played it and finished it over 10 hours on Friday and Saturday.

The eyes of the female characters, Elena & Chloe though.. looked as if they were glass. Seemed so out of place when everything else looked so amazing.
