    Hi all,
Im about to start the lyle mcdonald rapid fat loss diet. want to get rid of a stone in about three weeks for a event.
Anyhow can anyone recommend a few high protein foods that are also low in carbhydrate. I have the usual covered like the meats, egg whites, cottage cheese but is there ant other foods out there that will up my protein intake but not the carbhydrate.
    Thanks

I have no idea what that diet is, but a stone is three weeks isn't possible. would mean a huge deficit per day

I assume you're doing a ketogenic diet if it's lyle mcdonald? Wait for EileenG to respond, she's pretty much the guru on it.

I used to buy a pepperoni pizza and scrape off the sausage and cheese and eat that when I was giving ketogenic a shot for the same reason as you, quick results. Since then I realised there's only so much meat and eggs you can eat before you go mad and am now doing a basic, consistent, boring 500 calorie deficit.

I find going with a higher defecit during the week, 700-1000 and eating closer to maintainance takes the bordom out, or at least the edge off.

Yeah thats basicly it, only going to be taking in about 900-1000cals a day and all from protein. My maintance is around 3250 so there is a huge defitic. You take fish oils vitimen ablets and a fat burner pills or caffeine pills for energy every day to keep you going. This is only to get the weight down for this one event and then it be dack to the normal training routeine.

I wouldn't take the fat burner pills tbh.
Don't get all of your calories from protein. You should be eating tons of vegetables too on that diet.
You can easily lose a stone of the RFL diet. Just bear in mind that half of it will probably be water. So when you finish the diet after your event you will probably shoot back up around 6 or 7lbs.
3 weeks won't kill you but that diet is a pain in the arse. Good luck.

PS I would also take some fibre supplements...

Do you have a serious medical procedure coming up or are you just out to wreck yourself for the fun of it?

You would be wasting your time eating chicken maryland to be honest.
You either do this diet or you don't. The calorie deficit will knock some weight off but at a much slower rate than if you are in ketosis.
If you want eat them on the carb refeed day.
Are you in category 1 or 2?

I don't mean soaking the tuna in a cup of water or anything like that.... :D

Tinned tuna usually comes in either brine (watery) or oil. The brine is the lower calorie option.

If you want to drop me a PM I've had a number of clients complete the same diet. A number of whom kept pretty detailed food logs...including all the mistakes and misjudgements they made. I've gone from 138kg to 100kg in the last year and pretty much worked my way through Lyle's books to do so....actually when I say I worked my way through Lyle's books I mean...I read a page or two and fell unconscious...then rang or emailed Lyle to get him to tell me what to do.

Ha I would give him 10/10 for repetition but his stuff is top notch.

Like most stuff on training and nutrition...there is always a lot of overlap because what is right is right and there are only so many ways to say the same thing.

Spoken to Lyle about this in the past and the thing is...most people buy 'a' book...not all of them.
