    Hey ladies,

I'm just wondering what brand of support underwear would you recommend..i.e. the underwear that flattens ur stomach etc.

Also where's the best place to get measured for a bra?

Arnott to get measured for a bra if you are in Dublin and they will also advise on control pants.

Spanx are generally considered the best brand, but I don't know if that's just marketing.

M&S have quite a few decent control pieces.

Gok Wan's range for Oxendales looks interesting, but I don't know what it feels like - the range of colours is quite good (nude, black, pink, purple and white as far as I can remember from the last time I was flicking through the catalogue) and the variety of pieces is impressive.

Whatever you get, make sure it's comfortable when you try it on - it's not going to get any more comfortable after hours of wear!

M&S have good tummy control pants, and then they have all in one things, which I don't find quite as good because the bra bit isn't as figure enhancing as it could be.

I ordered a pair of the Gok Wan pants things the other day, so will post a verdict once it arrives. I've heard very good things though. My mum swears by Spanx.

+1 for Arnotts for bra measuring. If you want a good well fitting bra, they're the place to go. If you're in Dublin there's a shop called Contour in the Stillorgan Shopping Centre who are great also, although a little pricey.

It depends how much you need pushed in. I'm size 8 and I just wear Penny's max control ones. They don't make me smaller, but they smooth out the tummy bump so dresses hang better.

I personally find that the control knieckers from M&S are crap. they do a good job on the stomach but i dunno if its just me, i find that after only one or two wears, the back of them at the top starts to roll down. they have the little strip of rubber but it does NOTHING!!! i have two pairs and it's SO annoying because i just can't wear them. Anyone else get this, no?

I have one of the holder-inners that goes from right under your boobs to the bottom of your stomach. like a little corset tube thing. i find that great. i got it in Debenhams.

    Thats my two cents. :)

I got the spanx for my wedding and found it very uncomfortable - am only a size 8 so I dumped it and just wore my ordinary underware.

I've had this problem with one or two pairs in the past, but then I got a slightly longer version (like almost up to the armpits :o) and the back strap of my bra goes over the knickers so it stops them moving. I'm actually allergic to that rubber stuff so I always take it off underwear, and now I find them great! Oh, also don't put them in the tumble dryer or on the radiator cos it seems to ruin the shape of them.

I use Spanx and find them pretty good- agony if I get an attack of bloating though so I need to say well away from anything fizzy or white bread :/ never had a problem with them rolling down which I found the Penney's ones did.

i got measured in old roches debemhams and they only measured my underbust whats that amount? she just looked at me in my bra and asked me what size it was and said looks like it fits.
in ann summers i got told i was 32c i then tried on 32c and it was way too small so can't say i recommend them either, i will try arnotts then!

I got a pair of spanx a few years ago and they were really annoying to wear. I got the tum and bum ones but if I was buying them again I'd get the ones that clip onto your bra because mine kept rolling down. They're not cheap either. I'd say try m&s rather than spanx and save yourself a few quid

iMax take a week off for being plain silly. Infracted and post deleted.

www.simplybe.ie are great for all sorts of control wear. My personal faves are the super slicker knickers - go right up to your boobs and dont roll down - I just can't stand corsets because of the palaver undoing those damn gusset fasteners every time I go to the loo...

Ok i need to get me some support underwear for a dress, only problem is the back of the dress is see through for abit under my bra so i cant get ones that go up as high as my bra.... what ones would people recommend? (my main need for them is to avoid a nicker line on my tummy and no i'm not going commando!)

I got the bum & tum ones on eBay for a fraction of the price in-store. I <3 them, find them super comfy and it's hilarious not having to pull down your pants when you pee :D

    TMI? :o
