    Hi Cork45

Unfortunately there is no magic exercise that you can use to spot reduce body fat. Your body decides where it will burn fat from.

All you can do really is to keep eating clean, exercising (make sure that you mix up your exercise routine every 6-8 weeks or so to keep the results coming) and be patient (this is often the hardest part :)).

You have already achieved great results. You will get to where you want to be if you keep positive and keep going as you are.

    Best Regards,

    M

    Hi Cork45

Make sure you are eating a fairly clean diet. Also as you have already lost 3st make sure you have dropped your calorie intake to keep pace with your goal.

Also as you have been in the gym for 2 months, if you have been doing the same routine now for those two months it may be time to change it around some, as your body will adapt to exercise and if you keep doing exactly the same thing your progress will slow and may even stop.

If you want to post up a typical days food intake and an idea of what you are doing in the gym, I am sure some of the folks on here could point out if there is anything you need to change to help towards you goal.

    Best Regards,

    M

    Hi

    Would you do weights sessions?

I was 20 stone myself and now done to 16 1/2 just like yourself in last year.

I have of course eaten much better but I did have man boobs for while. When I did bench presses and so on my muscle around this area hva ereally become lean.

Now you might not want become weight lifter but I would advise you do them 2 times week. O and make sure you do stretches beforehand and in between reps as this helps progress.

Cheers lads, I have someone helping me with the food but any advice on my workout i'd appreciate.

I start off with 20mins on the treadmill with the speed and incline set to six.
Then 20mins on the cross trainer set on random level 6 and keep the speed above 7 for 20mins.
Then 20mins on the excerise bike set on hills level 8,I keep the rpm's above 100 so I seem to end up doing 10k.

    15 reps x 3 @ 35kg on the Shoulder Press,Row/Rear Delt,Pulldown machines.
    15 reps x 3 @ 25kg on the Chest Press machine.
    15 reps x 3 @ 55kg on the Seated Leg Press machine.

    Any tips are wellcome

You weight 16.5 stone, 25kg on a chest press machine is hardly worth doing. I see 7 stone girls in the gym i go doing more weight then that!!

Then maybe next time you should offer the op advice. The above post is pointless.

OP - congrats so far. Post up a typical days worth of food(warts and all).

You should change things up every now and again to shock your body. Google interval training. Instead of doing the same old thing on the treadmill, maybe sprint or jog fast for 1 minute and recover for a min and continue over.

Weights: try to focus on the bench press, squat and deadlift These are fantastic moves. Get a trainer in the gym to show you these moves and make sure your form is correct. Maybe google starting strength too.

If you have not already, take a look at the stickies here and in the nutrition forum.

    Best of luck op.

Surely you can get the point i was making put a bit more resistance on the machine. My advice was he was wasting his time doing a chest press on a machine at 25kg when he is a man of 16.5 stone.

The standard of students in UL must be poor enough if you could not get it

sweeping generalisation TBH, your advice to the OP regarding weight of lifts was not helpful... I know 25KG is light for chest press but it depends on the person .. what matters is that he is pushing himself somewhat ... I can only shoulder press 40kg and a lot of people have told me that is too light, but that is ALL i can manage .. whereas I can leg press 190kg, which a lot of people have said is TOO heavy so it all depends on the person ....

Yes it is a generalisation. The lad been in the gym 2 months doing good cardio etc. More the likely he is wasting his time with those weight exercises he was doing. I good have but it more mannerly but whats the point. He ask for advice and i gave him that for what it is worth For suggesting that 25kg on a chest press machine is too light would be true for 99.99% of cases. If he was benching 25 free weight i would not have said a thing

Sorry lads i do 35 on a chest press and 25 on a shoulder press, I mixed them up.

JonnyC I don't have a clue tbh the chap in the gym told me do the above and that my arms should be tired after 45 reps, which they are, should I be doing something different?
I certainly don't want to be wasting my time with the weight exercises

Why would it be different if I was benching the weight?

Typical days worth of food would be:
Breakfast - Bran flakes in the morning with low fat milk.
Dinner - Grilled chicken breast and salad with low calorie balsamic dressing
    Desert - Low fat yogurt
Supper - Soup and 2 slices of soda bread
I'd have 2 apples, 1 pear, 2 tangerine's every day in between meals.
Around 4 cups of coffee with a tiny bit of milk no sugar and 2 pints of low sugar ribiena

Benching is a compound movement so it works more than one muscle, you use many muscles for stability lifting free weights that you dont need on machines.
when you bench you are using your triceps, pecs, shoulders, and core among others.

Good advice there I think. The bench press is something you really should go for if ya want to get rid those man boobs

Just be careful you don't start lifting too heavy and put on too much muscle around the chest if you're prone to man boobs.
That happened me when I was trying to get rid of the man boobs. I ended up looking even worse as I now had a bigger muscular chest covered with fat, which under a shirt looked like even bigger man boobs!!

So when I went to the gym this morning I did 45kg on the Chest Press and pulldown and 35kg on the shoulder press,Also I did the weight routine twice, before and after the cardio,Instead of just after the cardio,
What if I added an extra 5kg a week to each machine, would that be a good idea?

i was 22 stone in febuary now im 16stone and i still have massive man boobs.im concidering surgery because ive tried everything

I would recommend losing the machines and concentrating on heavy, compound movements such as (previously mentioned) squat, deadlift and bench press. Get instructed on how to do each exercise correctly and start with a reasonable weight.

You could consider adding the standing press, bent over row and stiff leg dead lifts after a while, once you get those basic movements down.

Try and aim to complete 8-10 reps for maybe 3 or 4 sets with each exercise. The last one or two reps in each set should be a genuine struggle. When you find you can comfortably do more than 10 reps with a particular weight, increase the weight for that exercise.

You will need the cardio to lose the body fat that is being stored in those areas. But also weight training to help tone those areas. Push ups, bench press, sit ups, side bends...

Also watch the diet. Most people have problems with portions so if you cut down on how many plates you eat at a meal this should help...

I'm not an expert, but I think you'll need to get your weight down by another few stone before you lose your man boobs.

A few years ago I started out at 18 stone and got down to 14 1/2. While I'd lost a good chunk of weight, I still had some man boobs and a big enough belly. The truth is that they had obviously reduced as I was having to buy smaller shirts etc. However I never got down to my goal about 12 stone so it's hard to know if they'd have gone by then.

I was doing a mix of cardio and weights.

With regards to how much you should be lifting, ignore people who recklessly tell you to lift too much. I'm a bit of a weakling with my upperbody strength, but I can easily leg press 180-190kg without breaking a sweat. In fact the only reason I don't go heavier is that I don't want to be stupid and injure myself. I hurt my rotator cuff a few years ago and since then I've been a bit more sensible in the gym with what I lift, how etc.

Now though I'm back to 18 stone so I'm trying to get down to 11 stone or so as I want to be really lean.

Your diet seems good. Just make sure it's something you can stick to long term. You can't really go back to the way you were eating before as you'll just put the weight back on. But I'm sure you already know that :)

So I was watching those videos and the first one I watched, the guy said that if you have man boobs, you should really be doing incline dumbbell/presses rather than using the flat bench. His theory was that all of your excess weight in that area is around the bottom of the pec so just let gravity sort of deal with that and work the upper chest instead.

Does this make much sense? I know I have man boobs myself that I want to get rid of and I can tell from looking in the mirror, all the fat is around the bottom of my chest. The upper chest has little fat so maybe I should be doing incline dumbbell presses rather than flat ones that I'm doing now?
