    :D

    I know i know,

Have had this a few weeks now so thought id share pics etc, im sure its not to everyones taste, nor was the z4 i suppose, i didnt set out looking for a TT but when i got into it and drove it i made up my mind on it very quickly!

Anyway, time to unveil the car that replaced the short lived Z4c.

Car is a 2007 Audi TT 2.0TFSI, condor grey, black leather interior, interior aluminium pack, 18" turbine alloys,

Just been detailed by Larry at cleancar.ie, he did a super job, highly recommended!

Some pics for now, ill give a little review of it tmrw!

Also here is my very brief comparison versus the Z4C

Engine - obviously the z4 wins hear, smooth straight 6 with 265bhp versus the turbo charged 4 of the audi making circa 200, the 2.0t clatters a little on start up and doesnt idle as smoothly either, altho my last 4 cars have been 6 cyl bms so maybe im somewhat spoilt. on the plus side, versus the z4, the audi rarely feels underpowered, it is lighter and that certainly helps, also there is a nice enough hum off the exhaust when moving on

i do certainly plan a remap, id have done it already if it was a quattro, im just a little worried that another 40 bhp may upset the handling etc.

Interior - for the me the audi wins here, the z4 was a nice place to be and very functional, the TT interior is more stylish tho, secondly small and all as they are, those rear seats were a must have for me. boot space was good in both but space up front is better in the TT and it feels like a bigger car.

Looks - a very subjective one, the z4 coupe is a more striking and more unusual car, im not sure if its better looking, i think in the condor grey the TT looks pretty good, and the turbine wheels suit it perfectly, much better than the MV2s on the Z4

Ride/Handling - this is a little distorted as the z4 was on RFTS and as the TT needed new tyres when i got it i changed all 4s to vredesteins, which helps take a lot of jarr out of the ride, the z4 handle very well and as a rwd car felt more pure, but the TT is an easy car to drive fast aswell, maybe the fact that its 'only' 200bhp make it an easier car to really press on in.

Apart from that the TT is cheaper to tax, better on fuel and cheaper to service, ill keep it for 12 months (i have made a solemn promise to definately keep it until after my wedding next June) and then move back to an e92 of some description, or maybe an S5

Only mods that i may do are a remap, lowering and i need to speak to Conneemm about any of the rest!

What ive done to date is added the german plates, refurbed the wheels, fitted brand new vredestein sessantas, detailed the interior myself, got Larry to detail the exterior and fitted the exhaust trims (which really should have been standard fit)

So all in all im very happy with the TT, if the z4 had the same type of back seats would i have changed it? probably not but it doesnt!

Nice bus, but I thought the Z4 was going for something with a bit more power:confused:

no unfortunately the main reason the z had to go is that i needed a little more space with the audi affords me, the z was plenty quick,

initially i was looking at getting an e46m3 again, but with the way the e92s are depreciating, an e46 m3 is really going to struggle to hold value, i liked the TT, got it at a very favourable price and it should be an easy sell in 12 months time when hopefully ill get an e92 m3 or a 335i if i cant afford the full fat M :)

hes hardly the only person in the country with an expensive car, even as boardsies love to say"in these recessionary times",car thiefs could pick from thousands of potential cars to steal from carzone if they had access to the vehicle reg info with addresses etc

But the reg is on display everyday out on the road how is it any different having it up on the internet? Your sequence of events could be carried out just as easily without the internet.

I usually block my plates when putting up pics but because I like to stay fairly anonymous on boards but nothing else.

Agreed, but there will be a lot less traffic by your address than there will be on boards.

Maybe I'm being a bit over cautious...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,722 ✭✭✭✭Cyrus

yeah i feel the same about the reg thing, ive never hidden them to be honest, if someone wants to steal your car they will take it and prolly wont be a boardsie!!

plus its in an underground car park so its secure enough :D

indeed, im sure pics of funxys tvr or something like that would be more to car thiefs taste :)

anywho, if it was an m5, rs4 or some other bankjob car id be more careful but a tt is down the list for them jobs also

Actually had the alfa first but good recall :D, however it will be either an audi s5, bmw 335i or bmw m3 next, promise :D

also dont forget unkel, the TT has a higher BHP per tonne than all but 2 of the cars listed and when it is remapped next month it will only be behind the m3 at around 200-205bhp/tonne versus 229 ;)

Personally I would have held out for the Quattro - don't like how VAG cars put down the power in FWD's, especially the more powerful one's.

    Well wear anyhow dude!

I'm not a big fan of these epeen threads but... seriously.. an M3 to a Z4 was bad enough.. but now a TT?
You should've realised the error of your ways after the Z4 and not compounded it with a TT!

Edit: Just to clarify, I've always loved the look of the TT but the idea of an M3 owner buying a Z4 or a TT is what's getting me... unless it was the Z4M or the TTS of course!

oh ffs, this is a f@£king motoring forum, where people who are generally interested in cars post about cars, ask questions about cars and discuss there own cars, every single car i have bought over the past 4 or 5 years i have posted, why, because some people maybe interested, the same way im interested when others do the same,

you dont like it, dont post here there is no issue, but theres nothing boastful or 'epeen' about it.

maybe i wont bother in future

Just to clarify for me, have you ever driven an m3? and have you ever drive the 3.0si z4 coupe? how much do you really think is in it regards useable performance on a public road

Fair enough eoin but... I don't understand how this forum works obviously.

If we create threads do we all have to agree with one another or can one or more of us disagree with a certain point and explain our reasons why?

I didn't realise we were all hear to give eachother high fives and sporting taps on the behind.

    RedorDead wrote: »

In my last post which was deleted, I mentioned that you'll be hard pushed to find a bigger e46 M3 fan than me, so it's not begrudgery at all.
    GigaByte wrote: »

Again, in my last post which was deleted, I mentioned my personal opinions on my viewpoint but I said that I'm sure plenty of other people would agree entirely with the OP.

Which again, is what I thought the idea of a public forum is.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,263 ✭✭✭✭Eoin

You responded to a post that I had already dealt with.

Can we get this on topic please - you can drop me a PM if you want.

Edit - having just had to look up what "epeen" meant (bless my innocence), this is why people get tetchy.

And once again - if people reported posts instead of responding to them it would help.

Nice colour and love those wheels on the TT plus the flat bottomed wheel - lovely touch.

You need to get an E92 M3 when the time comes, I don't think I'm gonna sell mine for a long time.

Lol, ok cool eoin. You've gained a word and lost your innocence today. :P

Anyways on a lighter note, I love M3's so I'll be the first one on here if you get an e92 M3!

Edit: Just realised, I was editing my earlier post while it got deleted (damn u eoin!:) ) to explain how I really do like the look of the new TT (hated the old TT!). Just in case I was in danger of looking like any more of a d!ck. :D

Please do, I love hearing from people who have a love for cars describing their new purchases and posting up pics. Its nice to hear from the common man about cars rather than from TV presenters etc.

In fact I would love if every regular on the motors section posted up a review (their likes and dislikes) of their every day cars with pictures etc too. My car is nothing special but when I bought it, I did huge amounts of research and love it all the same. It would have been great when I was buying it if I could have found a review from a fellow boardsie of the car, an Irish, similar thinking kind of person with an honest perspective.

I love the car but from a test drive and reviews there were a few things left out, for example, one thing that annoys me is where the cruise control stalk is, coming from a volvo before where it was brilliantly placed, imo its in an awkward spot on new car.

Anyway, just wanted to encourage people to post up reviews and picture of their cars, I genuinely do love reading about them, I especially like it when cyrus gets a new car as some day I hope to be able to afford cars like that, you car selection is excellent in my book,

    cheers.

thanks twonk, thats how i feel too, i love when someone gets something and tells us all a bit about it and how they have found it in the 'real world'

Vertakill - i had no issue with you questioning how someone could go from an m3 to a TT its a valid qn, its a long story and there were some outside factors that meant hanging onto the m3 and doing more mileage in it was going to be financial suicide from a resale perspective, the z4 was a very quick car and i never found it lacking in power, but the lack of a read bench was a bigger issue for me than i thought and it had to go, a number of factors contributed to me getting the TT, the colour, the spec, the fact that it surprised me by how good it was and the deal i got,

the only problem i had was the accusation that i was boasting or on an ego trip, which i wasnt, i just genuinly love cars and am interested in everyone elses as much as my own.
