Mallow is too long a trek for me but if there was somewhere in Limerick I'd definitely go

Didn't CFI have a trip down to Cork for some CF'n recently...?? Think there could be a group there.

Go onto crossfit.ie and email one of the lads or hit Colm O'Reilly on here up with a PM.

Your right Hanley CFI were in Cork recently, i arranged a group of lads to compete against them in a few workouts. I have spread the crossfit gospel in Mallow, most of the gym members in Hi-B fitness are doing Crossfit to some degree. I dont think it's very well know in the city or the rest of the county though. I know Stephen McGrath does it down in Cobh but i dont know of anyone else.

Hey Ger (or is it Pat?), Bobby from Team Douchebag here. Good to see ya on boards.

The boys down in Cork seem to be pretty into it, little rough round the edges :pac: but they'll get there. If you can get over to train with the lads it'd be a great experience, you don't know what CrossFit is all about until you train with a group.

Dom, the boys are legit, Pat especially. He'd beat the bollix out of ya boy......

well i look forward to seeing him in competition next time so. Nothing like a good fran off to sort the men from the boys

Agreed! In fact a lot of CF wods will separate the men from the boys!

    transform/dominic.

    Ger McAuliffe is my name.
I competed against you at the Crossfit Ireland Invitational last feb, i beat you in one wod, you beat me in another.
I saw your video for King Kong recently, stop jumping for your muscle ups and turn out fully at the bottom! I'll show you how to do them properly next time i meet you. Also get some Oly coaching from Colm or Will before you hurt yourself dude! Stop trying to receive the bar in the splits!
Only kidding, it was a good effort though. Well done.

Im trying to find if there is anyone doing Crossfit in Cork other than in Mallow, it doesnt look like there is too many.

yes i follow it most days - have not done fran in a while so must see if i can go sub 3mins next time.

Doing 5 rounds of cindy, 60kg clean and jerk 10reps, 5 rounds of cindy, cleans again for 10 then finish with 5 rounds of cindy- might be today or tomorrow.

Bobby, if Pat can manage to stay injury free and not get sick he should do very well at the Inviational in Feb, nobody i have seen do Crossfit in Ireland comes even close to to his strength and power output. He would give Jason kalipa a run for his money, he can shoulder press 115kg!

This should all lead nicely into the next Invitational - Feb 6th, 2010.

We've set up a site for the Invitational, imaginatively titled www.crossfit.ie/Invitational/ which we'll update periodically coming up to it.

For those who don't follow our site here' the Overhead Squat/Pull Up/Wall Ball workout from the Invitational - http://vimeo.com/6967072

Remember guys, time isn't the be all and end all in these workouts. Standard of movements, range of motion and efficiency of technique are just as, if not more important, than hitting a killer time.

As coaches, myself and Will will allow a degree of ugliness during metcons or max effort lifts, but a lack of range of motion or incomplete standards and the rep isn't counted. We will at times wite something to that effect on the whiteboard if we don't feel a movement was up to scratch and we've found that our athlete's really appreciate just how stringent we are on this.

That's not to say we're perfect, or our athlete's are, but we feel it's a pretty important part of being a CrossFit gym.

Shoulder Press 115kg, that is ridiculous, how many blocks is he eating now Ger. Will mentioned 36 or something,

He really is the best spotter out there also :D:D

Actually, Pat can press more than I can squat......:mad:

Pat says anyone that beats him in a Wod is getting knocked the f&$k out!
You've been warned. Also he eats 30 blocks a day - 6 meals of 5 blocks, paleo zone.
Bobby, Pat wants an explanation of the 'rough around the edges' comment, elaborate please...

Just to clear things up, I can shoulder press 100 and push press 115 :)

You guys should get on to CFNI and put together an all-ireland team event.

    I'd come to see that.

That's a really nice press!! I'd have expected you to push press more tho?? My shoulder strength's pretty brutal but I can get my 80kg x3 or 4 press to a 115kg push press!!

    What's your squat like?

It probably is more but the only time I did a 1rm push press was after I did a crossfit workout called Helen and my shoulders were fried!! If you're not familiar with Helen it's 3 rounds for time of run 400m 21Kettlebell swings with 21kgKB and 12 pull ups. My squat is 220kg, below parrallel
