Wimax is just a wireless technology. It's been around for a while. Eircom were trialing it for a while as an option for those who couldnt get wireline broadband. Since they own Meteor and are pushing 3G they may drop wimax and move towards 3G - LTE

Certinaly haven't heard anything much about it recently.. Is anyone actually on a wimax service??

What Irish Broadband are selling is mobile Wimax, another midband, a replacement for ripwave

I would avoid this 'Wimax' thing like the plague. I got a engineer from Irish broadband to call out to my house to try to install wimax. I live literally 5 mins walk from where my nearest station is, i could not get a signal on three separate modems..just another mobile product i guess :pac:

Imagine offer the service but all it says on their sight as far as i can see is "super fast" , the speed test just shows my current speed is is nice, but doesnt compare it to their speed.

i found an article which states it will be up to 30 Mbs, up to is a great line, my current one is up to 25 Mbs , but i only get 11 Mbs
plus i live in a place with very poor phone coverage , so i imagine it will be no use to me
