ok guys Ive got my inspiration from tevez so here goes

I want to lose 30 pounds before christmas dont know if it can be done but i will try. Right now Im

    6ft 14st 9

. I can only walk everyday up to the 3rd of November as i have a shattered wrist and cant train. After that I can go back training properly I have good fitness levels so I can do lots of training. What I can do is start my diet NOW. It will be hard as im sitting around all day with the child and he is eating his chocolate , crisps and the general stuff I like. I dont eat eggs so that part of diet wont work for me. Fish is my favourite food so that will be handy. What I would like to know is how many calories should i have with breakfast/dinner/tea this part of dieting i could never get right....

Hope u all can help and I will post results as they happen :)

Check out the stickies first .... so much excellent info there , might also be an idea to post up an honest days diet

20lb would probably be more realistic tbh, aim for 1-2 lb a week, you dont want to lose muscle in the process so hit the weights and lose it at a healthy rate.

maybe you should continue on with this?

    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055703867

the advice given by Eileen is sound, replace white carbs with veg or I would say wholegrains also .. dont use the presence of junk food as an excuse, you either want to succeed or not (harsh i know!) and anyway surely your kid doesnt eat that crap ALL day?

the fact you dont like eggs doesnt matter much man, I dont either and it is not an issue...

ok a day of food would be...

breakfast 80% of time none 5% of time cereal 15% of time toast/sausages

I would have a sandwich in between with anything in it.

dinner I would have mash spuds/roast spuds with carrotts and roast lamb/chicken/pork/beef or would have pepper steaks or pork chops

tea would probaly have sambo with packet of tayto in between.

Before I go to bed I would have another sambo......

During all this I would have numerous cups of tea or a few glasses of coca-cola and a few bits of chocolate

    thats me all day

I don't think you need to be told that your diet is pretty bad man.

1.Make time for breakfast. Gets the metabolism off and kicking. Porridge/shredded wheat/Weetabix or maybe some ryvita with nut butter/cottage cheese and nuts/fruits/natural yogurt are all good choices.

Stay away from kellogs/all other branded cereals as they tend to be very high in sugar and salt. Bran flakes is 22% sugar, special k is around 17% sugar. They will raise your blood sugar levels leading to a crash leaving you hungry about an hour later.

2.Cut out the white bread - nutririonally void. Avoid white flour where possible and sustitute with 100% wholemeal bread/wholegrain rice and pasta/quinoa etc.

Maybe try substituting bread with ryvita. i do. get a ryvita and spread peanut butter on it followed by cottage cheese and a bit of jam on top. nomomnom.

3.VEG!! eat plenty of greens. eat lean meat anf fish. you could make a salad with prawns/tuna/chicken/steak and feta cheese, vinegerette dressing. if you find veg too bland you can stirfry it with spices.

4.Cut out the chocoalte/cole and all the bread before bed. If you cant live without cola go for the zero/diet brands. If you really want chocolate have a tiny portion or have 2 squares of dark choc (70% up).

cottage cheese/greek yogurt and nat yogurt, nuts and seeds, dark choc, fruit, ryvita make all good snack options.

Alternatively you can also lose weight by cutting down on the portions of food that you already eat but it will leave you hungry and miserable!

    Best of luck with it.

Christmas is only 10 weeks away, so ... no, probably not. Maybe if you were really overweight, i.e. obese it would come off very quickly at the start, but being only a little overweight it will probably be slower - 1/2 lbs a week as someone else said. What's the rush anyway, can't you keep at in the new year ;)

My advice is go for it. In almost 21 weeks I have lost 3.5st! Through healthy eating & exercising for 1 hour a day. Its tough but it can be done - you just need willpower. I too have a toddler & he wouldn't be eating sweets/tayto/choc all the time. maybe the odd day but you get used to not having it. few things & changes to make - simple ones.

Change your bread to wholemeal. or use wholemeal pitta. try nimble bread.
for samobs use chicken/tuna/salad stay away from ham & the likes - full of salt.
change milk to skim milk & sugar to sweetener (if you use it)
Fill up on a good breakfast. porridge / museli (unswettened) / weetabix.
For snacks (& if you need a fix) Have couple sqs dark choc. eat low fat tayto (treble crucnh / velvet crunch) for ice pops have a fruit pastile lolly / silero.
Start to exercise slowly - I walk & swim daily - 30 mins each & accompanied with a good diet its worked wonders for me.

In 10 wks I'd say if you put your mind to it you will lose about 20lbs or so & that would be fantastic :)

Ive started the diet I didnt have breakfast I just wasnt hungry but will have muesli tomorrow. For dinner at half 2 I had brocoli, green beans, wholegrain rice, 2 fish cakes I put some red sauce on the rice to make it easier to eat. At half 6 I had a food supplement shake. During all this ive had about 4 cups of tea.....and a handful of peanuts.

Ive done 4 miles of walking at about 4mph. Its not much but its all I can do....

While the suggestions as to replacing or removing certain foods from your diet are all spot on, be sure to stay abreast of calorie arithmetic. Many people take such advice but end up eating ryvitas (or whatever) by the busload resulting in better nutrition but meagre caloric reduction. If you're in circumstances where decent food isn't available, it's easy enough to find the discipline not to extend your intake beyond 1200-1500 calories daily even without being able to prepare greens and lean meat every evening. I've dropped two years of weight gained due to the student diet in the last six months though I still only have the time and cash for categorically awful food. Keeping an eye on the numbers should be the salient concern.

Aside from that, if you do lift, don't neglect carbohydrates. The instinct is to load up on protein and cut out all carbs, but wiser people than I will tell you this is counterproductive as far as muscle gain goes.

Yes, it can be done. Eat clean and work hard.
