Desert DPM, Multicam, Desert Flecktarn would probably work well. Not sure about other patterns.

Desert DPM looks pretty good thanks.

Theres a pic of me in Drogheda, I was un noticed in that position for a large portion of a game, nearly 30 minutes, before I was eventually stumbled upon by a small unit on my left flank. Drogheda is predominantly a rocky, quarry site with some grassy areas, but has a heavy amount of the dried grass you speak off.

It sounds like you need multicam.

Although desert dpm and fleck are very nice patterns and cheap enough, they are completely tanned in colour, multicam has a nice mixture of green, that you can operate efficently in heavily greened areas also.

    Here we go again......... :p

As said above Desert DPM, Multicam, Desert Flecktarn also american 3 colour. These all work well

if you mean dried grass land ie yellowish colours id recommend desert marpat

have to admit the multicam works well against the rock, shame about your face orange glasses, black gloves and black aeg, your success at concealment i would say ius more down to inability of airsofters to observe the environment, but the multicam works;)

but for the enviroment your mentioned as others have said multicam, us 3 colour desert, desert flecktarn, desert vegetata, stiff like that

id recommend the desert marpat over multicam have both the desert marpat is a lot more effective in yellowish and faded areas

Shouting movie quotes didnt help either

i find multicam a little too light, especially the copys for your winters, where the light is low and shadows rule the field, well at least down in cork

you have been told before that your love of disney films has no place on the airsoft field...... :p

Well multicam seems to be the easiest to get hold of an pretty cheap too as for my gun US 3 colour desert camo paint job should fit in with multicam and be pretty cheap to get sprayed.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,463 ✭✭✭Leftyflip

If you're gonna get multicam don't get the cheap stuff, I know people who have had theirs rip when running.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 997 ✭✭✭.22 Lover

Even the quality stuff is pretty cheap compared to some other camo patterned clothing.

the tru spec line seems to be a good starting place, your looking about 70 -80 euros a set or somthing like that

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,140 ✭✭✭✭TheDoc

Real multicam is not that lights, its actually pretty dark.

Just be careful when buying chinese copies.

Theres like 4 different types of pattern going around, all different shades of colour.

same as the real acu, unfortunately i;ve seen very few people using the better quality stuff normally its your ebay/ebaybanned/ehobby special

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 997 ✭✭✭.22 Lover

And whats the major problem with buying clothing from those retailers?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,261 ✭✭✭Puding

    + price

    - color/fading
    - poor materials
    - poor stitching
    - poor cut

tbh honest the camo brought from somewhere like ehobby and ebaybanned are cheap copy's, with cheap material poor stitching with normally a bad cut, I've lost count of the number of sets I've seen almost fall apart on people, with only limited use at weekend skirmishes, i personally would never want to trust them for a weekend even in the uk or berget,

the cloth is low grade the printing is 9 time out of 10 poor and will fade very fast, camo is not just about the pattern its about the cloth the ink how it interacts with light, does it adsorb or reflect? stuff liek that

know there are exceptions, i;ve seen some cheap knock off camo perform rather well but this is only a small percentage

there not cheap if you have to replace them every couple of months, 70 - 80 euros may seem like a lot but in the long term they will seem like a bargain

all the above can also be applied to cheap ebaybanned/ehobby load bearing gear, not scientific just my observations and experience, i learned the hard way to buy the best i can, an example of this would be slings, again lost count of the number of times i;ve seen a aeg worth hundreds of euros drop to the floor and break because someone have gone a trusted a 10usd sling :)

i got some helikon camo(multicam:D)and i would recomend their stuff to any one been thru heavy bushs in it and no tears ,strong stuff maybe others can name brands that they have,so if you are buyin online you know what to look for.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,132 ✭✭✭Stonewolf

My experience with BULLE UK stuff (From flecktarn.co.uk) is that it's pretty decent, wash my ACU regularly and have played with it a good bit and it's still in good nick.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,261 ✭✭✭Puding

the bulle stuff is nice, its from flecktarn they don;t normally sell crap :)

edit: stand correct see gatlings comments

i stand corrected then, my experience is with there flecktarn, dpm, bulle pouches and all had been excellent, up until know i had not heard anything negative or positive with regard to there other camo, i had just assumed the excellent quality i had experience was across the board :( you think you have a grasp on the world and they pull the rug out from under you :( thank you for the information gatling

its funny before i got my marpat i highly recommended them ,great selection of gear ,vests and camo ,
still recommend flecktarn just not the marpat ,

the helkion gear is pretty nice its identical to the issuse marpats and tri color
    well priced too ,

Exactly the same experience here; Bulle MARPAT faded like crazy in its first wash, but everything else I have by Bulle is deadly (which is pouches and such).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,291 ✭✭✭✭Gatling

wouldnt mind they have 2 price ranges for marpat one a few quid cheaper ,its the more expensive one that had the problems

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,205 ✭✭✭Firekitten

I LIKE that the bulle marpat fades... really improves its efficiency thanks to not being too sharp.

For that situation... i'd have to say multicam is a good call... Though if you're aiming for concealment, camo the rifle and other kit to match the environment, whatever that be...

Would have to go with flectarn as well, best general all round camp I've used, I would stay clear of the used stuff has a habit of developing a pink ting over time

Apologies for the thread hi-jack but... Been toying around with the idea of putting a russian load together for a while and was wondering what do you reckon would be the best Russian Camo for the Irish climate. Obviously it varies site by site but in general what would you recommend? Was looking at flora but would appreciate soom input.

    Cheers

P.S. yes I have seen those pictures of those russians wearing multi cam and no :p

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,205 ✭✭✭Firekitten

    I'd say VSR or autumn...

flora is a good all round camo, think of it as the Russian dpm worls well and you can pick up a new set for about 40usd
    DSC_41770001-3.jpg

I rather like the partizan summer and autumn , based of the German designs from the 40s, the gorka suits are great for are weather and hard wearing, the partizan over suit is a nice light weight outfit which has a brightish side for spring summer and a reversible subdued side for winter.

    left to right

plan gorka-a , gorka-d ss autumn, gorka-d ss summer, partizan suit

    DSCN0402.jpg

as firekitten said vsr is on the left

or you could go for the omon experimental riot uniform.......it work honest :)
