Hiya I was wondering is the only place to get sexual screening (HIV, HEP etc) free in Dublin the St. James' Guide Clinic? also if you're not going to St James' is there anywhere else you can get it done for less then 150 euros without a referral from your doctor. From what I understand you have to get a letter from your doctor to get a test which I don't want to do. I would like to get a test basically without going to my GP for less than 140 euros!!
They make it so bloody difficult and awkward to get it done!

Call the IFPA in the Dublin City Centre Clinic

    Also, read this.

Your sexual health is very important, and your responsibility should never be relinquished to some fella taking the condom off, or getting too drunk. The risks simply aren't worth it.
The IFPA should see you with nothing to do with your GP.
Well done for seeking the info, I think you'll find the IFPA very reasonable, kind and most of all professional, with none of the judgement crap you can usually associate with Irish GP's attitudes to sexual health.;)
Nothing like a sweeping generalisation for a Friday night, eh?

    Best of Luck!

I agree that they make it so awkward in Ireland. It's ridiculous. All the posters and leaflets rabbit on about STI's, but it's actually really difficult to get tested unless you pay loads of money or hang around James' hospital all day. I can totally understand why most people don't bother, especially if they don't think they have anything and are just wanting peace of mind. Here in England, they offer all students chlamydia tests for free, and a full screening (student or not) is free or very cheap. I don't understand why it isn't like that in Ireland.

Backwards attitudes of those in power and complete idiocy really.

A Shure if we don't make it easy to get tested then they won't go out like rabbits.

wow, i hadn't realised how difficult it was to get tests done in ireland!

i know there's a free sexual health clinic here, as well as the New Zealand Aids Foundation, and for people under 26 (me), there's free GP and nurse care.

i really had no idea it was so difficult to get done back home! and that's in dublin, the capital too! i'm in a much smaller city than that now.
