Experiment for spurs players fan mail.

Inspired by the excelent thread in the soccer forum trying the same thing for a change of pace on the Spurs fourm I'm goind to suggest that we try somethig similar for the spurs players.

Basically for those who don't know what I mean, anyone who is interested writes a fan mail to a randomly selected (I'll choose them at random i suppose barring any objections) off the first team squad here.

With a bit of luck we'll have oe going to every player there and then we see who bothered to write back/what they said ETC.

I think it would be interesting to see what happens so if anyone is interested there are 28 players there and I'll take the first 28 people who throw their name in.

If we have less then the 28 i'll knock off the lesser known players or might even not bother with the random selection.

Count me in. Do I just write a letter with some questions I've always wanted to ask a professional footballer and post it here?

Right thats two i'll give it the two weeks and we see who is on. I was going to suggest send them the letter directly and if you wanna post a copy here then by all means. I doubt it would work aswell if we emailed them in so I would think the old fasioned hand written or typed letter is the way to go.

Did anyone read trevor tanners book "Tottenham massive", about the Spurs firm?? If so what did you think?

Brutal book. Keeps on saying how his kid is the most important thing in his life but fighting then takes over and apparently he never took a hammering either!!

Read it at your own peril would be my advice!!

Count me in too. What way are we going to decide who to write too and what are we requesting. Would we not all get a standard response from the club? Not putting a dampner on things, Id just be surprised if a Premier League club did not have a standard response.

Ah ya you have a fair point and are prob right but the lads on the Soccer fourm did get a keeper(I can't remember who) send back signed gloves with a personal letter. Cool your name is down. I'll give it till I get home from work tomorrow and we can sort out who gets who then.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 639 ✭✭✭Seillejet

Fair play to the keeper sending his gloves, sort of restores my faith in the game that all the players are not in it for just commercial reasons.

One of the worst if not the worst "hollie" books ever. Don' waste your money! For a real Spurs "hoolie" viewpoint buy "we are tottenham" theres a great chapter in it by a self confessed hooligan. The whole book is a great read.

i love when players do thigs like that. they must forget how much their little jestures mean to the fans. i remember john terry(w#nker n all that he is) a couple of seasons ago when they were chasin utd for the league n they won an away game n he made all the players throw their jerseys into the crowd.

Tanner seemed a bit of a twat in that book, and even worse when he was on Danny Dyers show on tv. Must get the book recommended during the week and have a read.

Toilet brusead would be one of my least favourite players but you cant deny he is Chelsea through and through and does give a crap about Chelsea and England fans. Reminds me of Terry Butcher a bit. Still dislike him though:D

I mightn't be online when you're doing the lists but count me in as long as I don't get JJ. Even I couldn't lie that much by trying to say I admire him etc.

Ok that makes 9 of us, that is three each when I cut out O'Hara for obvious reasons and the keeper Walker. I was thinking we should prob include Harry in this too so unless anyone doesn't want too that is three each. If you can't do it there is no prob at all just post up here and hopefully someone will send one.

it would be nice to get every player one. So without further delay our draw is as follows:

    Ziedth: Jenas, Rose, Dawson

    SpurSi:Corluka, Defoe, Livermore

    froosh69: Gomes, Assou- Ekotto, Huttonn

    Antisocialiser: Dos Santos, Pav, Bale

    everdead.ie: Huddelstone, Crouch, Modric

keane=cock: Keane (I couldn't make that up), Bassong, Kranjcar

    Manic087: Harry, Bently, Lennon

    Seillejet:Woodgate, Cudicini, Dervite

    ruiseal: King, Naughton, Palacios

I guess we can give it the week to swap and write out letters and if can all try send them around the same time. mybe wednesday or thursday next week

Without me bothering to google would anyone have an idea what the best address would be? Ronan?

I guess we should not mention the expierment in the letters to try and keep it fair.

If you get anything back i guess take a pic anf put it up.

Hop everyone is happy enough with their picks they where taken out of a hat as squad numbers. Good luck everyone.

Do we send it to the club?

Mine are already on their way to:

Tottenham Hotspur Football and Athletic Club,
    Spurs Lodge,
    Luxborough Lane,
    Chigwell,
    Essex,
    London IG7 5AB.

I think the players spend more time at Spurs Lodge than they do at White Hart Lane.

Sorry, didn't see this until now.

And the address is as above.....I've written to Chris Hughton at Spurs Lodge and have seen players collecting their mail from reception there.

I dunno I hadn't really thought far ahead TBH, I was thinking of just saying I been a spurs fan for 13 years and have never enjoyed watching the team as much as I do now and just say how I rate them as a player which is not going to a lie in the former anyway.

A copy of mine sent to Woody.

    Dear Jonathon,

I am typing this as I thought I would do you the favour of not having to endure my brutal handwriting. I have been a spurs fan for 21 years, my granddad was and my brother in law is which is a rare thing in Dublin. My nephew is three and is just mastering his slide tackle at the moment. You are by far away his favourite player. He seen my reaction when you scored in the league Cup final which was the day after I got married. I was never so drunk in my life Id like to wish you all the best in your comeback from injury.
I would greatly appreciate if you could send something like an autograph or whatever you deem appropriate for
as I know it will mean a lot and it might prevent him supporting Man U or Liverpool like his bonehead Uncles. It is my own save
    campaign.
Thanks for taking the time to read and I have enclosed a self addressed stamped envelope.
    COYS!!

Good point on the english stamp. I never thought of that. Will keep you's posted. Bloody raging he got injured yesterday. That clearance was class as well. Going to hold off on sending to my other two picks just for a week or two as I dont want the players getting suss.

    Antisocialiser: Dos Santos, Pav, Bale

Just checked this again there sorry dudes!! Hmm would the best bet be to send them one at a time leavin a few days between em? Best luck is probably gonna be bale as i doubt the other two's english is up to scratch.... what do u write to him? your my favorite player i cant get over that one whole game you played in which we got 3points :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 639 ✭✭✭Seillejet

Antisocialiser I dont want to be negative. Use your imagination to what you put in. If your a spurs supporter and the games these players play in matter to you I am sure there is something you can come up with. If it was a different club tbh I would find it difficult.

Being a spurs fan defines me and it matters. I was at a party last night and a lad I hadnt seen in ten months walks in looks at me and shakes his head. I respond and say " I Know, poxy Stoke".

This is actually a very good point. I think we should all space out our letters. Sure this thread isn't going anywhere! Anti-socialiser the example letter thrown up is a very good guide and i guess just say you respect him as a player etc.

Im the same. My wife was home sick from work this week. I rang and everyday I was asking was there post. She said why dont you ring the institute and see if your worried about your exam results.

When I said I was waiting for a response from a spurs player the sigh I heard on the other end of the line could hold the world record for the longest sigh in the world sighing championships.

Your a lucky lady I quipped before hanging up :D
