What is your range of Road Race PB's?

Just wondering what is everyone's PB for the following Road Races:

    5km
    10km
    Half-Marathon
    Marathon

It can be quite difficult to get an idea of equivalent performances between different distances. The online calculators aren't always accurate. I think the best way of getting an idea of this is for people to share their PB's over these distances.

    Mine are as follows:

    5km - 21:02
    10km - 46:59
    Half Marathon - 1:49:06
Marathon - Haven't done one yet

    5km 26:22
5 Mile 42:35 (first 3.1 miles of this was inside 5k PB pace)
    10km 53:55
    Half-Marathon 1:58:55
Marathon Ask me in 3 weeks ;)

Incidentally, my HM PB predicts my 5 mile and 10km PBs to within 30 seconds, according to McMillan.

    10km - 39.33

    5km: 18:39
    10km: 38:33
    Half Marathon: 1:53:05
    Marathon: 3:27:32

I did come up with a fancy Excel chart to kind of show where my various PB's line up against each other:

Yep, that one is from way back in 2006 when I had only just started back running again. I'm pretty sure that I did something very close to 1:30'ish in my previous life but I cannot remember any of those times so have started the record books again from 2006 onwards, well except for my previous marathon time which was something like 4:40'ish.

I'm now saving up that half record attempt so that I can completely obliterate it when I've actually got some more miles under my belt again.

to say I had a bad day with injury and illness would be an understatement! finishing at all was a much bigger achievement than getting the 3:30-3:45 I should have been able for based on the half a month earlier...

That's two great training performances there Ike - did you run solo on those or was someone pushing with you? Just interested as tried an 8K time trial at the weekend on my own and struggled big time.

    5k: 19:04
    10k: 40:30
    1/2 Marathon: 1:44 ;)
    Marathon: 3:00:50

They're all due a bruising, one of these days. I reckon I could smash them all, bar the last one. A buddy of mine takes great pleasure in holding the half-marathon record of 1:38 over me, despite the fact that I run a 1:31 for the first half of Berlin, and 1:30 in the second half. If it's not in a race (for the appropriate distance) it just doesn't count!

Thanks rigal, did the 5k recently on my own bit of a down hill course so made it easy for myself, villagerunner paced me on the 10k can't even remember when it was, early this year I think. Can be hard to push yourself I think the 10k just started out as a fast run, but go into the groove sho pushed on

Sorry, have to disagree with you there. For example, if someone ran 12.5 laps of a 400m track and timed it and this was faster than they had covered the 5k distance before then this is a PB. We are not talking about elite PBs here which are documented on official records we are talking about "personal" records. These records are for the individual and no-one else and it is up to them to honestly record what they feel it is. So if I cover the 5k distance in training faster than Ive ever covered it before, then that is in reality my best 5k time and therefore my PB.

I'm of the Tunney view, whereby if it isn't in a race of the apropriate distance, it doesn't count, but it's up to the individual really. I was interested at the end of Berlin marathon to see Haile Gebrselassie celebrating a new 30k world record, having failed to take the marathon distance world record.

Yep , But i would take a 5 mile pb in a 10k race, if it was measured exactly and had oficial splits for 5 miles, The national 1500m record was set in same race as the national mile record. it's just not that often you wil get an official propper split for a point in a race. Tunney half marathon counts in my book as you would have splits from each part of the tri and T1,T2.

my 10k pb is actually slower then my current recovery run pace, so i can set a pb ever day :)

Ok, true, it is a PB....on track though+also in training. Not sure why you'd be "racing" in training but anyway.

Now the trick is to go out and run a road race for same distance and see how close ya get to/under that time.
