Just looking for your opinions on attending handbag parties, if invited would you go, what do you think of them? The reason I ask is I'm thinking of organising a few before Christmas, friends think it's a great idea but I'm looking for feedback from others.

    Any comments would be great:)

    Thanks a million

Hope I posted this in the right place!

I assume it is like an Ann Summers or Tupperware Party right????

It's like an Ann Summers party without the sex toys:D You get a group of girls together(few bottles of wine) I call round and show you the range of bags, you either like and buy some or not. I would stay about an hour or so, mostly girls make a night out of it and have a few drinks and a laugh.

There is no presure to buy anything and it doesn't cost anything to host the party. The bags are cheaper than what you would pay in the shops, everyone loves a bargain:)

Personally, I hate it when people call these things "parties".

They're a sales pitch in someone's home. Sometimes they put a bowl of crisps out. And if you like the person at all you feel guilty if you don't buy anything (which I bet corporate are banking on)

So I don't know why they don't just call them what they are - an opportunity to see some merchandise that is generally not available in stores and buy them from a friend who may or may not continue speaking to you if you don't pony up with some cold, hard cash. After all, she paid for those crisps, freeloader.

Have to totally disagree with you, I lost my job earlier this year and decided to give this a go. I buy all the stock myself, so it's not got a corporate banking it, just me and my credit card. I also sell at a market at the weekends to try and make ends meet. So no there is no sales pitch, and def no pressure, if you don't want to buy anything you don't have to. The bags are available in shops so if you would like to purchase them for 30 euro more please be my guest!

if this is going to be a sales pitch on your company, then this isn't the place for it.

If you want opinions on these types of handbag/tupperware/avon/etc "parties" then rock on, and don't get defensive.

Its a cool idea, could be a bit boring though? like at ann summers parties theres games and things, or make up parties theres samples and stuff..can't really imagine what you'd do at a handbag party apart from just...look at handbags! However I'd probably go to one to find out, and if the bags are decent quality and not too expensive i'd probably buy something!

I asked for people's opinion, that's the reason I posted, I don't have a company it's just me, so there is no sales pitch. not looking to make a fortune just trying to do so something to keep me going until I hopefully get a job.

Don't want people to think that I am working for some big company and using this site to make a pitch. I've been on this site a while now and have chatted to a few people so thought it would be as good a place as any to see if this is a good idea that's all.
    :)
