    Started a 5 x 5 program from starting strength http://stronglifts.com/stronglifts-5x5-beginner-strength-training-program/

The whole thing takes less than an hour 3 times a week but find myself on off days wanting to to a bit extra. Question is what kind of work wouldn't effect my on-days oo much if I was to do it. For example would arm work effect my presses and bench presses much if I didn't overdo it. Lat work, traps etc.

Resting on rest days is as important as the on-days.
Stronglifts & starting strength are both very clear on this.

Yeah I suppose I kind of knew that. Just working away at the moment with nothing to do in the evenings and would like to be able to do something to pass the time after work. Loving the programme though especially the deadlifts.

There's lots you can do. High rep stuff, conditioning, assistance. Just get the balance right and make sure you're not overdoing it on your light days.
