    Hey!

I have been a member of the Kingfisher gym in Renmore for 2 years now but I am thinking of changing to the Radisson as they have all their classes included and its more central.

Can anyone offer me some advice as there is quite a price difference but I'm getting fed up of the journey out to the Kingfisher every evening..

NRG Bohermore is half-way, and I'm pretty sure that most/all classes are included. Car parking in the basement underneath (you gotta buy a fob for it), there's a fair few buses go past, and it's very walk-able from the city too.

Membership in the radisson is alot more expensive, had a great staff once upon a time but new management has run it into the ground. Tiny area for classes (max 8people per class), hence why they are free. I would say stay put, better instructors in the kingfisher gym.
Classes are supposed to be decent in NRG Bohermore but have heard a lot of complaints about general instructors for programs and general advice but have not met any of the instructors so I can't judge them

Radisson is expensive BUT if you can get a mate to join , join as a couple, couples membership is so much cheaper! You also get 30% off all treatments in the spa downstairs mon-thursday and 10% of products. They provide towels, theres shampoo, conditioner & shower gel in the showers too and the outdorr hot tub is awesome.

It is a small gym alright but i find it verry quiet most of the time so its good if your not fond of big huge gyms packed with folk all the time. Only ever went to the yoga and tone zone classes. Both found them quiet good and werent overly packed.

Was in Radisson for a year... and sorry to say, I wont be repeating the experience. Apart from one of the staff (who has nowleft), the rest were completley uninterested.
I had joined with my partner, bought platinum membership for the spa (which was good), but two months in, my partner had a family tragedy and wished to put her membership on hold. Eventhough Raddison agreed to do so, they continued to bill her. When the matter was brought to their attention, they said they should have asked for request in writing. They continued to bill her for the next five/six months, which meant my partner had to revisit her reasons for placing her membership on hold. In the end we just left, felt very shoddily treated indeed.

Was in Crunch the year before, was cheap and cheerful but at least friendly.

Yeah, I missed a good few months of a membership at NRG, mainly because a health issue. Popped in to see if my m-ship was nearly up and they were lovely..gave me 3 months additional time once I brought a note in from my doc.
I can use Bohermore (nicer vibe) and/or Knocknacarra (plusher and outdoor hot tub).
Toured Raddisson recently (before I knew about extra NRG months) and while the guy was nice, they were quite strict about not extending the 2 4 1 deal to beyond 3 months. Seemed a bit disorganised and too pricey by far for facilities. Spa smells lovely tho:D

Hi, You should try NRG in Bohermore. Am a member in Knocknacarra for nearly 3 years and I find it great. Have reduced prices now I think and all classes are included. classes are very popular and instructors are great fun. Don't use Bohermore myself but my partner goes before work (opens at 6.30am) and he loves it:D

If you join one Kingfisher gym do you have access to other Kingfisher gyms?

Kingfisher doesn't supply drinking water and charge you to buy it on site- my pet peeve and why i'll not be renewing my membership.
Just an extra cost on the days you forget to bring water.

New gym opening in Salthill Hotel is very impressive. Think its called ocean fitness. Got in for look around last week. Its opening next week I think.

    Two swimming pools. 1 X 6 lane 25M pool and 1 X 18M pool.

Gym is massive - split into 3 sections and a seperate one for the bodybuilders. Lots of new type resistance machines.

4-5 rooms for spinning, classes etc..

Signing up this evening. Less than 100 euro per month for a couple.

Been to the Radisson, Kingfisher, NRG etc.. and nothing compares to the kit out of this one. Lets hope the managment do a good job!

I always liked the raddisson, staff were nice and friendly, free towels, quiet, never a problem getting onto equipment.
I changed over to Raheen woods as it was nearer to home, but i find it too full of GAA young lads, body builders, not enough room in the changing rooms, messy, nice pool though. Plus, i found myself not going as much, coz i was that much closer to home and would make excuses. So i'm gonna go back to the radisson soon.

I think now they do a 'Gym Only' membership for 50 yoyos a month - which is a bit more in line with the going rate. Raheen woods was 55 a month.

Was in the Days Hotel gym for a year and really enjoyed it.

Left to join the NUI Galway gym the next year as it was handier, closer to home and cheaper but didnt enjoy it (too packed, instructors not interested etc...)

Years ago I was in Crunch for 6 mts and thought it was great, never too busy and the staff are chatty and nice. Was thinking of heading back after xmas, only downside is no pool but then again, i rarely used the one in NUI!!

Hi, i would recommend you to call 091-538525 (Spirit One Fitness and Leisure Reception, Radisson Blu Hotel) and request a free trial pass to get a feel of the place for yourself rather than listening sour comments from former members of staff. I believe you will not be disappointed! :-) ... good luck in your choice

Probably the worst advertisement in the world :pac:
Former members of staff and members usually paint a good picture of the place if they were treated well and had a good experiences. Personally I know the gym has lost a huge amount of members recently and that stands testament to poor management. And no it's not the recession as majority of gyms have actually increased membership numbers in the last year.
