Been going to the gym regularly enough, not looking to bulk up but maybe cut a bit of fat which I have done. Diet is decent enough but after a gym session I crave food (to be expected) I've read the stickies on here and they say that post gym your still burning a lot of calories and this is when you should eat carbs etc.. if your metabolism is still in over drive after a gym session would it be ok to indulge during this time + eat the good stuff?

    Consistently, no.

    The odd time, yup.

But then again, if it is only the odd time, then it doesn't matter when you consume them. I think I'm gonna tuck into some Quality Street now before my diet recommences tomorrow.

I like to eat crap on my birthday, Christmas, weekends and whenever the mood takes me, which is a lot.

If you are going to indulge, post training is the time to do it. Some will tell you diet is 90% etc. etc. and there's a meta-truth going around that "you can't out-train a bad diet" but there are examples too numerous to list here of people who out train rotten diets.

So as far as I'm concerned, eat what you want post training, or indeed whenever, but just make sure you're putting the work in at the gym.

as mentioned above you can outtrain a bad diet, but only to up to a certain point, there will be other probs with eating crap if your doing it every day ... if you must eat crap, have it PWO ... you need to experiment to see how much you can get away with, if you start gaining body fat you need to cut back

Funny that I've been thinking the same myself for the past few hours. Sundays are my nasty days, and my poison normally consists of lots of ice cream. And the odd 12" cajun chicken pizza from Apache. mmmmmmm
