Probably a bad choice on day one of Omega to be looking for games of regular Ultra.

Okay I've moved the more recent OMEGA posts into their own thread, so Ultra discussion only in here please.

Just flew through Ryu's trials there. Really sick, they've put it all the really important combos and left the last 4 as the silly ones. cl.mp FADC cl.mp FADC cl.mp xx SRK for life!

If you're playing on Steam, it's been bad since release of USFIV and Capcom don't care enough about PC to fix it.

    Console versions have suffered too.

Capcom just in the last couple of days suggested some changes to settings and kinda blamed Valve for the problem. Hang on will try to find it.

Cheers Doomy, though it hasn't helped too much, so I guess I have to wait or walk. Still giving it a try - and the one full green lobby I got involved a mashing/jump-spam Ken.

That was pretty boring, up until he started 'kicking' fireballs at me. Note to self, turn off Edition Select if you don't want weird Omega nonsense :pac:

Honestly, just ignore the bars. You can get plenty of good connections but the bars just don't work.

I play Azza regularly, and the connection is perfect

Privately hosted games work fine on PC but anything after that its pretty poor.

Alex Valle explains the issues with the PC version online.

On a serious note, I haven't played on the steam version in a while, hopped on the other day with onion and azza and it felt atrocious. I haven't played in a month or so, maybe I was imagining it to be worse than it was, but yes, it's bad. Could have been my end making it worse, but steam yellow bar is on a whole other level of unplayable, compared to that of xbl. Greens on a private endless 1v1 seem fine though.

Excuses, connection was fine, Ramza chokes are always at green bars

    (ggs :p)

Even on a perfect connection there is additional input lag on the PC version compard to Xbox 360. With Nvidia cards you can set max pre rendered frames to one to fix. There is an AMD GPU fix but I don't know off the top of my head what it is.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,138 ✭✭✭✭chopperbyrne

That answers a question I was going to ask so. The PC I was looking at comes with an AMD card, but can come with an Nvidia for a little more.

I play on an AMD card, and it's flawless. No issues with lag whatsoever.

Interesting, I've always thought it felt like I had to hit tight links ever so slightly sooner on PC. Never noticed it otherwise though.

Well that AMD GPU will run the game at max settings.
However as far as I'm aware the input lag issue on PC affects both AMD and Nvidia users.

If you switch between PC and Xbox 360 on the same monitor/TV you will notice the input timings are different. PC with V-Sync on is slower

Simply turning off V-Sync on PC does not work as it runs too fast and the input timings are different again.

The set pre-rendered frames to 1 trick in the Nvidia control panel will make the PC version with V-Sync match the Xbox 360 timing.

I'm sure on Shoryuken forum I read there was a similar trick for AMD users but I can't find it.

Your not going to be able to tell if your only other point of reference is casuals at the XGC with the monitors with their 900 frames of input lag.

IDK, the Steam machine-type machines might have trouble running SF5 at 1080p60 in 1-2 years; not very powerful hardware in them right now.

That's the Alienware Alpha you're thinking of I reckon.

The X51 is their middle of the road desktop.

Looks lovely. Bit saucy though for what you're getting....Although it would be a trivial matter to upgrade it in time if you wanted.

Or even just make your own SteamBox. Lots of nice little cases out there.

AMD users, from memory and what my own settings are telling me, install RadeonPro, turn off in-game V-Sync and turn it on in RP, set Flip Queue Size to 0.
Also, I don't know if it's a problem anymore, but if anybody's running a CrossFire (multi-GPU) setup, I disabled it for SF4 as I remember it seemed to cause some stuttering when I started playing on PC originally.
