Do you need to have USB 2.0 ports for the modems?

I have 3g but dont have my dongle at home to test it on a pc that doesnt have 2.0 :(

Anyone know if it does as 3g or 02 or vodafones sites dont say much

USB 2 is completely backwards-compatible with USB 1.1. So it should albeit at the 1.1 speeds.

There are lots of devices that are 2.0 only.

not sure if Huwei modems are one of them

Not totally , I think you need windows xp service pack 2 minimum as well and some 1.1 ports are implemented differently to others .

To fool a device that checks for usb2.0 you need to buy a usb2 hub and plug it into the laptop usb 1.1 port or else get a USB keyboard as most function as usb 2.0 hubs with spare ports too.

Worth going to a pc shop and testing that theory first :)

USB 1.1 has a native speed of around 12mbits, much faster than 3g :)
