    Best of luck with that.

I think we all dream of having a home gym, I've plans to build one myself!.

Of course I never will, but besides a power rack, weights, dip bars & chin up bar I'd want a matted area for Judo practice with friends.

Until then a few laps of Howth and a spin around the bay area does me!.

    Nice gym.

I have the very same gear and have definitely gotten my monies worth out of it.

Quality wise everything works perfectly 2 years later and Mickk was great to deal with.

The only thing I don't have is the rope for the tri-cep push downs n face pulls. Must order one of them. Tried making my own but that didn't work out too well for me

It also has an attachment at the bottom for seated rows, only thing is it dosnt quite fit the rack. I think it was made for the heavy power rack ? There was one part that I couldnt screw in .... works fine though

Mine went together no problems at all if I recall correctly and if the barbell in the picture is 7ft tall then the rack looks to be the same one I have. Weird

One bit of advice is to oil the silver looking bars on the rear attachment. My set up is now out in my shed and they have a bit of surface rust on them, it still works flawlessly but it doesn't look the best. So a bit of oil on the surface and it would have prevented it.

    Hi Gaz,

thanks for putting up the post and glad you like the stuff. One thing I would say is if you want to swap that 7ft bar for a special 6 ft one I have that would be fine. It looks like you don't have much room for getting past it or putting plates on the bar. I got special 6ft bars made that still fit on power racks and just have 6" cut off each end so you can "only" fit about 250kg on them...

Also that bit for the low rows on the power rack doesn't screw into the frame, it just screws around the upright, I will pm you a picture.

Gaz, how big is the room? Going to have a gym (sort of) in my house, it would have a tradmill at least but would like to fit some weights in there too.

Not sure of the exact dimentions, its just a regular sized garage, ripped out the door and put a brick wall in, lick of paint and a few floor tiles.

Gaz can you give a list of what stuff you purchased if you don't mind

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,595 ✭✭✭Gaz

    Sure ...

Power Rack , Pull down attachment , olympic barbell/weight set , olympic tri-cep bar, olympic ezi curl bar, rope attachment, preacher curl attachment and a bench. Mick threw in a dipping belt and dip bars for free :D

I already had rower , bike and a few dumbbells. Think thats everything.

I've always wondered. Now that you have all the equipment at home - do you still exercise as often as you normally would?

I know I'd probably get lazy and skip training if I didn't have to go to the gym.

I cannot really see the top of the power cage. Is there handles up there for pull ups / chin ups?

    Looks great!

Yeah , there is a straight bar across for pull ups/chins.

Ive been putting this together since the start of the year and I use it much more than I ever did the gym. I hated the whole "getting to the gym" bit about the gym.
This way gives me much more time after work, plus I hardly ever complain about the weights not being put back anymore.

I noticed ikea are doing good sized mirrors with fixings for putting it on a wall for 50 euro here: http://www.ikea.com/ie/en/catalog/products/50149131

Well cool home gym, never really been a fan of training at home, always used the excuse that the kit was crap and not enough weights etc etc... but the power rack set up looks sweet and easily enough weights there too.... You can squat, dead lift, bench, military press easily, then all the little muscles can be worked too, have to say a little jealous of that lot....hmmm.

Cheers for drawing my attention to this Gaz.

    Which rack did you get?

    http://www.irish-lifting.com/index.php?cPath=1_11

I really want one with a pullup bar at the top like the heavy rack in the pic above but I would quite like to have the pulley attachements you have as well.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,595 ✭✭✭Gaz

I got the power rack , it has a bar for pull-up/chins , the pulley attachment is designed for the heavy rack but I have it working grand on mine.
