    Hey folks,

We've been in touch with the folks over at Microsoft and they would like to invite you to a preview of Windows 7 before its launch on October 22.

They are holding a informal briefing to talk through Windows 7’s features and to discuss the consumer campaign to support its launch. Hands-on trials of Windows 7 will be available on the night.

There will also be a draw for a Netbook for one lucky person.

Food and drink will be provided on the night.

The event will take place in Edelman’s offices on Thursday October 1 between 7 and 9pm.

Their address is 5th Floor Huguenot House, 35 – 38 St Stephen’s Green, Dublin 2. Huguenot House is situated beside the Shelbourne Hotel in Dublin city centre. A map is available on their website and below:

If you're available to go, just leave your name below.

    Cheers

    Darragh :D

I saw this on the MS Ireland website, didn't know boards peeps had a hand in it.

I'd like to head to that. After vista, I want to make sure I get to see what it's about before using it. I don't want any nasty suprises if I decide to buy it.

    Add me in mate!

Whats this about no free copy of windows 7?
I just read the official documentation and they WILL be giving out a free copy on Oct 15. Don't know if that's a trial copy or not, they just said

"...and did I mention, you will receive a free copy of Windows 7 Ultimate Edition at the event?"

Sorry, I have to drop out, working late. If I manage to scrape in on time though would it be an issue?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 8,840 ✭✭✭Dav

That'd fine - if you can make it in a bit later, that shouldn't be a problem.

I'm just leaving the office now, so I'll see you there folks.

I'm just back from this event and I thought that it was very good and would like to thank Darrah and the people from Microsoft for organising it.

As usual the people from Microsoft were very approachable and also very knowledgable about the product and IT in general.

I would also like to thank the nice people in Microsoft for the copy of Windows 7 Ultimate and the T-shirts that were given out tonight.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,339 ✭✭✭✭LoLth

Thanks to Darragh and the MS people (and the Edelman lads of course). Gettin an xbox for my birthday and looking very closely at windows home server :) damn ye! you've gone and woken up my inner gadget spendaholic....

win 7 looks very nice I have to say. Downloading all the drivers I'll need for the 64bit option. looks like a weekend of progress bars for me!

Anyone that can go, really should go. It should be worth it.
I was already at the Tech launch in DIT Dublin on the 17th - where they gave those attending full copies of the Ultimate version. They gave you two discs 32/64 bit versions with one serial key that applied to both.

I hope they give ye the same version as the extra features within it is a BIG plus (Bitlocker and the virtual system to name just two).

Not asking to go to this one - I would be taking up the place of another that might get a copy alone - but I hope all get to experience the new system soon with possibly a free giveaway.
