Basically I haven't lifted a weight in over three years - I've attempted to but couldn't find the motivation.

Although I train Judo four times a week to keep me sane!.

Anyway one of the lads in Judo got chatting to me about bodybuilding, he'd heard I was a serious BB'er years ago and lots more other stuff. I told him about my lack of motivation & battle with depression, I'd lost touch with a guys I used to lift with (most would be names known in this forum) etc.

So roll on a few weeks later and my mate came into Judo one night and said he'd a present for me, woo hoo - me luuurves de presentz!.

And took out a MuscleMag from June 1997 dedicated completely to Arnold!.. And in brand spanking new condition, with poster included!.

I flicked through it, realized it worth to me, put it in a plastic folders and I keep it in my safe at home!.

Btw, I'm back lifting four weeks now thanks to my buddy & his kind thoughts!..

I know it may not mean much to the majority of people here, but I just wanted to share all the same!.

G'em - I feel like I'm over the last hurdle (if that mean's anything to you!).

    Good post

Motivation, ones mental state and training are tough to get right all the time.

I am getting very down about my training lately, I just don't seem to be improving very much. Then I log in here and see guys doing some pretty fckin amazing feats of fitness and/or strength and rather than spur me on these can make me feel even worse. I wonder why I am so weak/bad in comparison.

Ah the mind is a funny old thing. I have convinced myself that I am the worst bench presser of all time, I am just crap but then that attitude will only breed failure.

Again good post OP, glad to hear your in a positive place for training.

You weren't in TF Castleknock last night (Wednesday) were ya by any chance? You were (are) Mairt right? I think you posted a pic and I knew I recognised (who I think was) you.

    Navy hoodie, hack squat machine?

I was trying not to hit myself in the face with a bar over by the squat rack overhead pressing and powercleaning. Sleeveless top, paint splattered shorts, smug air of self worth, 100 yard stare ;)

If I see you again I'll say hello, or if it isn't you I'll freak out whoever it was I saw.

Thank God you didn't say you were the little lad doing two reps every 5-8 minutes (I timed him!!) on his dead lift!..

I seen you, actually it was your excellent form which was impressed with!.

Here's a little compliment - I'm rarely impressed by lifts in the gym, but I remember looking at you and thinking 'thats the kinda guy I don't want to fight' (on the Judo mat).

And sure, next time say "Hi"..

You'll know me easier by the tattoo..

One more thing, and this is fun!!...

My phone's name (on blue tooth) is 'Makikomi'.. Search for it :)

I do it all the time, so far I've only met one boards member - in the Hilton Hotel, Malahide Rd recently.

    Regards.

Yep will do. Glad the cleans looked ok. First time doing them off the floor.

There is a good little gang of people lifting up there now. It's not a bad place to catch the lifting bug again, for a commercial gym.

lol I'll never loose the 'Mairt' tag!.

TF Malahide is going to be my regular haunt tbh, but TF Castleknock defo has the old 'Hardcore' feel that Malahide is lacking - we'll see how it goes.

Btw, back in TF since June and have dropped from 126kgs to 110 & aiming to fight in November at 100kgs, so here's hoping.
